Just a useless tidbit of coincidence about Jamie Foxx & Tookie I heard on the morning hollowood report today and thought I'd share. .
Jamie Foxx played Tookie last year in "Redemption" Foxx is now leading the effort to stay Tookie's execution, which happens on Dec. 13, Jamie's birthday.

I had to read up on this Tookie fucker to figure out what you were talking about. Look at this shit. From all that I've found, this motherfucker apparently co-founded the crips? WTG, WINNAR. I don't care how much youth violence he "prevented" - starting a gang that resulted in, oh I don't know, a hojillion number of gang wars gives you a one way ticket to the green mile. Though, he's obviously pretty damn lucky he didn't die in South Central. Next stop, politics.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled against Tookie on his final appeal and set his execution date for December 13. Thus they disregarded 9 of the 24 Ninth Circuit Court judges' assertion that the District Attorney at Tookie's trial employed "reprehensible and unconstitutional" racist tactics, using animal-in-a-jungle metaphors to refer to Tookie and to the South Central environment in which he lived. This landmark ruling means that minorities can now legally be rejected from juries based on race. This is now the law of the land. So the Supreme Court disregarded a NON-MAJORITY of the appellate court's opinion? AND? You tell me anyone that doesn't view South Central as a fucking jungle, and I'll show you somebody who ain't never been there. That wasn't a racist statement. Now if he'd called him a monkey in the jungle, now THAT would be racist. Fucking retards.

I've been to South Central, or at least the Mexicano areas of it. It wasn't that bad.

Man, if he had prevented some youth violence, I might be more sympathetic, but reading that he merely "prevented" some youth violence, I no longer care.

Yeah, I didn't think I had to mention that because it's been in the news every day or two here for the last 2 weeks. I figured everywhere was afllicted with the same malady. As a result: Trivia about the condemned.

I think this is a mostly California thing, but the Governator is taking it seriously, he had arranged a closed-door meeting with the man last I heard. Bear in mind I dont care and Arnold's native land does not practice the capitol punishment.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation. -William Gibson

From what I've read it sounds like this guy is practically a poster child for rehabilitation. I can't really see any merit in killing him. Not that I see merit in capital punishment as a general rule, but I'm really not seeing it here.

But then, I'm not a big believer in rehabilitation. I am a big believer in people GROWING out of stupidity. But he lost that chance when he KILLED PEOPLE WITH A SHOTGUN.

I can understand the emotional motivation, just not the rational merit. That's all. I mean, does anyone really think that he's likely to kill again at this point? While he's behind bars and writing children's books that tell kids not to make the same mistakes he did? Real menace to society there.

Isn't capitol capital punishment all about emotional motivation ? Spending the rest of your life behind bars sure enough rules the "menace to society" reasoning out. Edit: Fixed a spelling error. See you guys in politics.

I can think up arguments for both sides, but rehab has nothing to do with either. The man is not getting out of prison. The Governator knew him before he was convicted, so that is probably one reason he wants a 1 on 1 before condemning him to lethal injection.

Everybody's gotta die, sooner or later. I'm pretty indifferent to the whole situation myself, because I honestly think a lot more people need to die than are dying right now. Overpopulation and all that, y'know?

In that case, murderers are the LAST people we should be giving the death penalty to, or trying to rehabilitate, for that matter - we should be giving them combat training, arming them to the teeth, and turning them loose so they can continue their work for the betterment of mankind.

My thought process on the situation was more along the lines of euthanasia and government-assisted suicide programs, so I no longer have to deal with "eventual left turns" from the decrepit old bat driving in front me anymore and we can all be rid of the majority of goths.

Making it voluntary is no good - you only get the selfless ones then. 95% of the old bats making eventual left turns probably wouldn't take you up on an offer of assisted suicide. What we need to crack down on is the people who insist on living even though they make the world less pleasant for the rest of us to live in.

You mean people like Pauly Shore and Carrot Top? I am on board with this plan.

- On June 30, 1981, just two months after being sentenced, Williams was involved in a violent fight with another inmate. Williams was observed kneeling over the other inmate and striking him in the head with his closed fists. When Williams was ordered to cease fighting, he ignored the order. Only after repeated orders to stop, did Williams stop his violence.
-On January 26, 1982, Williams was ordered to lineup for his return to his cell. Williams refused the order and became hostile. The guard then explained the line-up procedure to Williams. Williams responded by saying "you'll get yours boy, I can do anything now because I know what the gunmen will do…one of these days I'll trick you boy."
-On January 28, 1982, Williams had two separate instances where he threw chemical substances at guards. In one of these instances, Williams threw a chemical substance in the eyes and on the face of a guard. As a result of that assault, the guard suffered from chemical burns to these areas and had to be taken to the hospital where he received emergency care.
-On January 29, 1982, Williams again attacked a guard by throwing a chemical substance on him.
-On February 16, 1984, a guard saw Williams bending over another inmate and striking him with his closed fists. In an effort to stop the attack, the guard blew his whistle and drew his weapon. Williams, however, continued to fight. Only after a guard fired a warning shot, did Williams stop fighting.
-On June 8, 1984, Williams was observed participating in inappropriate behavior with a female visitor. When the guard advised the female of the prison policies, Williams became verbally hostile and stated, "you are looking around too much and that's not your job. I have dusted many officers on the street, one more would not make any difference."
-On July 4, 1986, Williams stepped between a guard and another inmate and began to beat up the inmate. The guard ordered Williams to stop but Williams continued with the assault. Eventually, after gun officers responded, Williams stopped the attack.
-On October 10, 1988, Williams was involved in a fight that led to him being stabbed. Prison officials subsequently learned that this stabbing was done in retaliation for a September 22, 1988, stabbing of another inmate ordered by Crips leader Stanley Williams.
-On October 19, 1988, Williams was placed in Administrative Segregation based on his association with the Crips street gang.
-On December 24, 1991, Williams was involved in another fight with an inmate. Once again, despite being ordered to stop, Williams continued with the assault. Eventually, gun officers responded by firing a round near Williams. After the shot was fired, guards gained control over Williams.
-On July 6, 1993, a large fight broke out in the shower area. Williams was one of the combatants. A guard ordered the inmates to stop, but the fight continued. After a warning shot was fired, the fighting stopped. Subsequently, a stabbing instrument ("shank") made of sharpened plastic was recovered from where the fight had occurred.
Then in 1994, apparently having seen the light and realizing that a trip to the needle was in his future, old Tookie decided to start cranking out children's books. This is the same sack of shit who was reported to have made fun of one of his victims by mimicking the guys gurgling sounds. To top it all off, in the face of a whole lot of evidence that he was in fact the multiple murderer that he was convicted on, he's refused to admit his guilt and show any sign of remorse.
The sooner he dies, the better. He's lived 20 years too long as it is.

I agree with Arnie - to argue redemption one has to have first responsibility, then a plea for forgiveness, then genuine atonement. The first two have been entirely missing for almost thirty years. Imagine the potential for influencing youth with integrity as well as a ghost writer.
The only argument his supporters should have advanced was innocence based on irrefutable fact. Didn't. Couldn't. Good luck in the next life Mr. Thug.
