I really want to preorder the Xbox 360, but I dont want the damn bundles. I want the $399 system, and a few games. I dont want to drop $700 for games I dont want and wont play. Any one know of any place that will let you preorder the system with out all the other crap?

That's going to be a tough one to figure out.
Here's a trick that may work for you: A few years ago, I had to have a Playstation 2 at launch. Bundles were the only game in town. I think I ultimately got my bundled PS2 from Walmart.com.
Like you, I want the games that I want. So, I just took the unopened, cellophane wrapped games and exchanged them at Best Buy for games I wanted.

None of the stupid bundles come with the wireless network adaptor, which is some thing I could actually use. Extra controller is not so bad ether.

I know... I just hate this trend of not being able to buy the console and games seperately. Well, you can... but apparently not if you want to preorder. I looked at several sites and, although the console is listed and priced seperately, only the bundles have a "click here to preorder" button. The lonely console only has a "add to your wish list". It's diabolical.

I'm going to ignore release and probably pick one up at Costco within a few months. They'll have some killer package that'll come with a game and some frills for ~$400ish I'd imagine. Costco always comes through. I like Costco. The way they do business, it's refreshing in the rabid capitalist gladiator pit.

Skinny-dippin' in a sea of Lee, I'd propose on bended knee...

Costco had, until they sold out, a bundle online that included the premium console, an extra wireless controller and a recharger for something like $430 which saves you about $40.
