I didn't care about this stuff (like dialogue, for instance) when I was a kid. I still enjoyed them. Also, I can still enjoy them today if I shut off and just let it effect me on a more visceral level.
However, a movie that I had the same fondness for when I was young was Superman. I enjoyed it for similarly shallow reasons when I was young, but when I watched it recently, there were plenty of things that satisfied the "adult" part of me. It's brilliant on both levels (especially Hackman).

Same goes for Conan (the Barbarian) too. I actually enjoy that now more than I did before.

Not sure how this relates to the overall discussion really...I just wanted to mention it.

I agree with the implication: a great movie is great no matter the age.  I'm simply saying I enjoyed the movies in this particular way more than the other, not that they are robot jesus.  If you want that kind of posting you'll need to wait for our dear friend WUN to return from his land of ninja-robot samurai-golem elves or whatever. |

"At last, we reveal our worst license abuses to the fanbase. At last we have revenge." I'm waiting for the Criterion Edition of the Star Wars Christmas Special, myself - despite Lucas' promises it will never ever be shown again. |

I have to admit I almost bought the $50 Vader helmet I saw in wellymart.
But only because my father wouldn't buy me one back in 1977 at Disney World.

Obi-Wan Kenobi was never a fan of flying, but he better get used to it because now he's actually a Jedi starfighter. The Jedi Master transforms into the Episode III fighter design, and comes equipped with a lightsaber and two missiles that actually launch. Someone make their kid swallow one, please. I'm still chafing about not getting missiles with my proof-of-purchase Boba Fett. |

You do know though that toys, for the most part, are approved and partly designed by kids, right? Call it raping your childhood and whatnot, but just so you know, it's children themselves who are doing the raping. |

You know that generic old man who sits on his porch and laments about how kids today are ruining the country?  Turns out he was right. |

Anyone who thinks that George Lucas is "deep" needs to expand their reading habits.  Mouth breathers.
You know, A Feast For Crows is out. Lucas would brobably be crying after page 15 or so. |
