Skinny-dippin' in a sea of Lee, I'd propose on bended knee...

I will be posting something more in-depth about Day 3 either later tonight or tomorrow, but for right now I just wanted to mention some high points and low points for me at the conference.

High Points:

Getting to meet people I've interacted online with such as Lum, Raph, Mahrin, Toonces and Unknown Player.

Getting to sit in and listen to some wonderful presentations and discussions.

Hearing Smedley say he reads us every day and thinking that maybe, just maybe, something written on here really does make a difference.

Enjoying the hospitality of the GarageGames guys.

Low Point:

David Bowman.

Ok, I'll play.

High points:
Sex in Cybergames. Teledildonics.
Meeting the same people Shockeye mentioned, in addition to people I've never met who know me. That's neat shit.
Being able to avoid people I didn't want to meet (see: Low Points).
Meeting the guy who put in the flavor shit in Splinter Cell 3. Having him offer to sign a copy for me. Sweet.
Garage Games.
Hanging out with one of my friends from back east.
Jeff Anderson, Paul Sage, Smed, Raph, Dave Rickey, Lum, Steve Jackson, and a bunch of others. Finding out that some of these people don't hate you for giving them buckets of shit. On that note:
Finding out that some of the people on the internet who fling a lot of shit (read: more than I) are Jack's Total Lack of Social Skills in real life. Way to wear a digital schlong.
Tabula Rasa.
And a lot more I'll get to later.

Low points:
OGaming had the biggest booth.
There was an EBay Power-selling Alliance thing being held at the same time.
Finding out that some of the people in the gaming industry that should have been excommunicated are still allowed to functions such as these.

I'm more interested in who has the "digital schlongs".

Sex in Cybergames. Teledildonics.

I can't wait to hear the write-up on this one.  MMOs seem to be the first technology frontier that hasn't been invaded (or pushed) by Porn yet.  Much as it may reinforce the idea that the internet is just about porn, some kind of game/device like this WILL push the market boundries farther than any other genre ever could.

*sigh*  I suppose a stray hand grenade at that meeting wouldn't have solved this problem.  Time to embrace it, I guess, though the /tell spam in WOW is getting stupid.  I'm up to recieving 2 a day now.  It's time for MMOs to start introducing a "Tells allowed from friends/ guildies only" toggle.

Well, if you blatantly ignore cyb0ring Night Elves in WoW and the very existence of Second Life, sure.

Not the porn industry though but close enough.

People engaging in sexual expression through whatever tools are there != porn industry developing something purely for stimulation/ gratification.

Ogaming was giving away T-shirts to anyone that wanted one and I saw many people wearing them. I -wish- companies would've taken more of a stand against Ogaming/IGE by refusing to participate at AGC or sponsor AGC since the conference was taking Ogaming/IGE's money. It's one thing to not send press copies of games or make people available for interviews as some companies do to Ogaming, but I wish they had taken a stronger position.

I was tired last night and forgot to mention a number of other highlights that schild touched upon such as meeting and talking to Paul Sage and Scott Brown. I have to say all the NCSoft people were very nice and approachable. Both Pann and Tisirin were great and I hope I get to meet them again at another conference. One other person that impressed me very much that I forgot to mention was Jeff Anderson, the President and CEO of Turbine. He seems to have a very grounded and real grasp of the industry and I hope we get a chance to talk to him again soon. That's right Calandryll, I'm looking at you. Overall the conference was a great experience and I'm very glad I got the chance to go.

Correct: Those people are the porn industry's market. And if the market is there, I bet the industry will follow.

"whatever tools are there" == "substitute for the missing porn".

Awwww, I love you guys too. It was so much fun babbling wildly afterwards and having people nod their heads and look like they cared! =D

So I didn't get to talk about this, but totally been there, done that. :) I hooked up the SexBox to Second Life back in June, you can check out the project at

[NSFW]http://www.slashdong.org/content/projects/freesex_network/freesex_network_sex_and_second_life_version_10-000327.php[NSFW]

(God, what a horrible URL that is.)

There are multiple games coming out next year that will be nothing but MMO Sex Games. How they'll fair is debatable, esp since none of them have screenshots or proper synopsis yet.

Anyways, there's also in world generated porn. There's at least 3 porn magazines in SL (Slustler, Players, and PlayAv or something like that). Of course, they all blow. Blow bigtime. It's obvious they're either done by ax wound obsessed guys, or housewives catering to pure gash hounds. Not a sausage to be seen at that party, unfortunatly.

Samples at [Inside not NSFW]http://www.mmorgy.com/slustler.zip (God I hope they don't get pissed at me redistributing that).

If you're interested in keeping up with everything that happens with sex in MMOs, check out MMOrgy. It's another page on the NP Network (my blog network).

Speaking of, if anyone is interested in covering worlds other than SL, gimme a ring.

Word up Kyle. Nice to see you show up. Hope you stick around. We've actually already approached a good number of people about the whole slashdong project and it seems there's more interest than we would've thought.  rolleyes

ACK! I'm sorry, I'm so used to just posting URLs randomly that I kinda forget to give NSFW warnings these days. I'll try to remember next time. :)

Also: I didn't realize I typo'd my name. Oops.

Also Also: What do you mean by approached people about the slashdong project? :)

That turns out not to be the case.  (Probably NSFW, certainly hard to explain) Seducity has been around for years. Here is the NSFW manual.  But Teledildonics seems to be advancing notably these days.  Certainly I look forward to the day I can improve my efficiency by keeping both hands on the keyboard.

"It was a difficult party" - an unexpected word combination from ex-Merry Prankster and author Robert Stone.
