For those of you who don't scour the web every day for awesome deals: Save 35% off DELL - Ultrasharp 2005FPW 20.1-inch Flat panel LCD Monitor: 8551H1LKN2GLW7 Save 30% off DELL - Ultrasharp 2001FP 20.1-inch Flat panel LCD Monitor: F09Q6K6G63M49K
These are combinable with this coupon: Save $60 off orders >$500 <$1000 purchased from the Dell Home Electronics and Accessories site: 82JMMHN1GRWXLZ
2001FP ends up $464 after coupons, 2005FPW ends up $394!
The uses on these (1500 each) may go quickly since there haven't been many monitor deals lately. I just ordered my self a 2005FPW for desktop gaming. Ookii has one of them, it's a great monitor and this is the second lowest I've seen it. Oh and 3-5 day shipping is only $2.50.

I could use this. The rest of my computer's OK, but my monitor is 17" and CRT. I'm finding myself putting my face real close to the screen at times....Can't be a good thing.

Is the response time 8ms or less?
Is the brightness ratio 600:1 or better?
DVI?
Answer no to any of those, and I'm not interested.

You're not interested then. They don't pass the response time test. 12ms. Everything else is there though and since I'll be using it as a second monitor after my cinema display, it's gravy for me. And actually, after looking at the specs on the CD, the response time is actually better on the dell.

I have the 2001fp. Got it for poker. Love it. These deals come up every month or two if you keep your eyes open.

Dell Small Business has the 2005FPW 20" LCD Monitor on sale for $394 after coupon codes GRZCD5K12SSLL$ and ?S8Z?$8RH8DCWX.
More codes. Same price. Time based instead of use-based.

End of Dell fiscal quarter is approaching, so the deals will start popping up.
I am holding out for the 24'' widescreen at around $600. This deal for the 20'' widescreen is definitely solid. The lowest I've ever seen it is $369.

Yea, I missed out on that one. $394 for it is sweet though. Just wish it had component inputs. Bleh.

Ok, now that I have one of my Xboxen and PS2 hooked up to the monitor via VGA I can officially say this monitor rules. Once I find a good way to take widescreen screenshots this shit will rock the house. Can write reviews while playing games and don't need more than one monitor. Also I can plug the 360 straight through the pass-thru on the iscan ultra. Fucking ROCK. They still have a $394 deal for this thing, if you remotely need a new monitor I can't recommend it enough.

Why on earth do you need 8ms? The maximum refresh rate on typical LCDs 60Hz. Meaning you can't get blur at anything below 16.67ms. If your rig is anything less than awesome and V-sync is limiting you to 30 fps (lest we forget, still faster than a movie) then you only need 33.3ms. In the particular case of the 2005FPW and 2405FPW everything I've read says that synthetic testing shows it's absolute worst response is somewhere in the 20-25ms region, but subjective testing just says these things kick ass in just about all practical situations. Right now these monitors are as good as it gets in LCD-land.

Dell UltraSharp 2001FP 20.1" LCD monitor with 16ms response, with DVI, VGA, S-Video, & Composite, 400:1 contrast, 250 cd/m2 brightness for $629 - automatic 15% off - $100 off $500+ coupon 63C1JBV4XV1VMD = $434.65 (Expires 12/14/05)!
Just passing along that this thing is at it's lowest price ever right now. I've had mine for a year and this monitor is possibly my favorite hardware purchase ever. Not sure if we can post links to stuff like this, so you can find the deal yourself at GotApex.com if you're interested.

Dang that is nice, I bought this when I had a friend build my new comp a couple of months ago. Acer AL1914smd-8 Silver/Black 19" 8ms LCD Monitor Built in Speakers - Retail, have had a blast with it so far.
Newegg price where I bought mine is $282.99 plus shipping.
So, 20" with 16ms or 19" with 8ms, both LCD monitors seem pretty kick ass. Just don't know if for my next computer I would need a 20"...but getting a 24" for the x-box and gamecube would be sweet.

I have two of the exact same monitor. I love it, the 8ms refresh is nice. I have had one "crash" and need to be "rebooted" once, which is one of the strangest things I've ever had happen to a monitor, but otherwise it's great. I'm seriously contemplating buying another for my music computer, music just requires two monitors..

The 20" one is regularly $334 now. And the 24" has hit 700 or so fairly often now.

The 24" is worth the measly two extra Franklins. Trust me - screen real estate is like money and power: no such thing as too much.
