I don;t know how many of you have enjoyed the Sly Cooper series, but my family likes them quite a bit.  There just good fun; decent premise, solid gameplay and lots of mini-games imbedded (including I've read an opera-singing contest, and the one I want to see, a pirate-insult-joke face-off, Monkey Island-style)  Well, last night we piced up the latest in the series; Sly 3, Honor Among Thieves and it's more of the same solid fun.

A couple of new things i wanted to mention:
Safecracking - you can attempt to open a safe by turning the dial of an old style tumbler lock.  You rotate the stick clockwise until it vibrates, then counter clockwise to the next vibration, and again to the right in a set amount of time.  It's clever, it works, and it a good adaptation of the existing controller's abilities.  It felt pretty natual to the thief role.

3-d sequences.  The actually include a pair of 3d glasses in the game and there are mini games you can elect to use them, like finding 3-d laser senors.  It's not great, but again, it fits the theme and at least they are trying something different.

At any rate, I'd recommend the series.

3-d stuff. Ugh. Kinda tough for those of us who only have the use of one eye.

I picked up Sly 2 on a whim a couple weeks ago, and was pretty satisfied. I'll probably pick up Sly 3 sometime during October.

It's optional.  When those sequences pop up you can elect not to use the 3d stuff.

One other item i thought was neat: using a magnifying glass to search pictures for codes.

I like Sly Cooper a good deal.  Unfortunately it always makes me want to play Ratchet & Clank, which simply cannot be touched in the 3D platformer genre.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.
