DAOC. Why else do you think they let him write the book? |

... I'm not sure which one of us missed the sarcasm this time. I think it's you. |

We're not smart enough to not have colored text. |

...I'm not sure which one of us missed the sarcasm this time. I think it's you.I made my comment purely for what came after the comma. What's important is that he was able to write the book and not have it be a conflict of interest as he no doubt had to talk about competitors MMOGs. Though, a dummy could not play DAoC in its current form. |

Or maybe Lum just have a cool employer, that knows letting him do what he really cares about in his free time (which they probably could say no to) wil make him a content employer less likely to look elsewhere for a better job. There is a few workplaces like that, you know.l

I hope it's not DAoC.  I know it will be, but I hope it's not.  If I'm completely new to MMOGs and want to give them a shot, and the book supposed to introduce me to the genre gives me DAoC... I'm not continuing my explorations into the genre.
This isn't because DAoC is a bad game (it may or may not be, that's opinion).  But the character movement is so clunky compared to other games- it all feels clunky and outdated.  Moving around in DAoC is so different from moving around in CoH, even putting aside travel powers, it's almost like two completely different genres.

(I'm sure someone will chime in saying that that's probably not important, but it sure as hell was for me when I installed the free trial of DAoC a few months back to see the Catacombs graphics- I couldn't bring myself to play past level 2, I was already not having fun.)
