Say hello to baby . . . Chewy!  A Shropshire family, who say they have been likened to TV's The Osbournes, have named their latest child after Bob the Builder, a figure from Pokemon and a character from Star Wars. The newest addition to the seven-member Peate family from Berrington, near Shrewsbury, is Rafferty Bob Ash Chewbacca Peate. Eleven-month-old Rafferty, who has become known as "Chewy" in the household, will be officially named at a special ceremony in the village tomorrow. In true Peate family style, the naming ceremony will then be followed by fun and games. |

I'll take Chewbacca over any of the jackass names people are naming their kids nowadays. Case in point, my brother and his trog wife named their two kids Hunter and Dakota. Yes, my brother is a fucking idiot who I have to grudgingly admit is related to me.
Stop the trendy names, all you new parents out there. There's absolutely nothing wrong with Mike, Joe, David, Steve, Sarah, Rebecca, Heather, or Mary. And if you think changing the letters around makes your kid's normal name now "unique" you're also a fucking idiot.

The wife and I named our kids Arianna and Ryan. Unusual but not nonsensical. I cringed when she actually took my suggestion of "Lucretia" seriously for a moment, though.

Oh, and my brother and his wife are both teachers who insist on lecturing my little sister, who has two great kids, on what she's doing wrong.
