I've been playing CoH off and on via the test server since I started EQ2, anyway.  I've just not played on the live server.  It could be one reason I level so slowly in both games.

Lets play a nifty little game called follow the leader.  It goes like this; I will ask a question, and you will choose one of the answers.  Whatever the answer is, I will follow like a good little, errr, follower.

I, Signe, am going to be playing/focusing mostly on ____________ in the near future.

A.  COH
B.  EQ2
C.  Auto-erotic Asphyxiation

Seriously... I don't know.  I'm subscribed to 2 games, legitimately, and I have 3 beta tests to choose from.  I never know what I'm going to do until I seem to be doing it.

Because I need something to play besides EQ2, and I am hoping she would say COH.  I knew she would not, that she would make up her own letter, but still.  I may pick up WoW if COH does not grab me.  I dunno.  I need more coffee this morning, I lack the coherence.

Good idea, but I want to play with other people also.  EQ2 has turned into a single player game.  I like solo play, but I prefer interaction with others also.  Seems simple to me.  Why all the antagonism lately?

I can get my blaster up a few levels fairly easily.  I believe I was around 14 or so... or I can ress my level 23 blaster.  I do not like my 23 blaster that much though, he is french.  Regardless I will look into firing my account up tonight.

Finally.

I've been waiting for this for awhile... it seemed to more or less stabilize on the test server, and then nothing happened.  All these people have been screaming DOOM, "I quit", etc, etc...  Now the rubber meets the road, and we'll see how many really do quit.  And how many come back.

All the agonizing over this coming patch is finally done, it's here.  Yay!

Sokay, I can't play until after 5 edt anyway.  At least at my new job I can read the forums(here and COH), I couldn't even do that before.  Work machine now doesn't have nearly enough graphics power to do CoH.

Issue 5 is buggery.

Not in the pervy way. I can't seem to remap my keys properly.  The function keys give the wrong character.  For example:  F1 is F1, F2 is Z, etc.  Only a couple come up properly, the rest map to things like Z and CTRL left.  It's REALLY annoying.  There are also some graphic issues.  Missing textures and the like.

Can no one get their updates right on the first try?  Guess not.

Eh, they always end up finding new bugs on Issue release day.

Then people on the Training Room board create a petition to the effect of "I just don't think it's worth giving feedback anymore! We've done all the testing we could and showed every single bug and they went and released it anyways!"

Then all the bugs are fixed within a week usually.

The only bug that is still there from an Issue introduction (of which I'm aware) is the screwed up base in the Shadow Shard.  But really, it's the Shadow Shard.  They could delete the whole thing and no one would notice.

Oh schild, I wanted to let you know something that Positron was talking about recently-
Know how you said they should've had unlockable costume pieces from the very beginning?  Well, they wanted to.  And they planned to put the first one in Issue 2.  The problem was that they couldn't get the technology working for that, and hadn't been able to until now.  So t'weren't a matter of 'em not thinking about it, t'were about the tech!  Just in case you were at all interested.

Unlockable costumes wasn't possible with their tech?

Normally, I'd have a hard time buying that, but short of the z-axis magic they worked for movement, the rest of the game IS pretty damn simplistic.

Ok, here's some insight into the design process.

When badges were created for Issue 2, an Accolade was ordered that required several pieces outside of Design in order to happen. That Accolade was called the Task Force Commander badge. It was to grant you a costume piece as it's "special thing", much like the Croatoa Witches' Hat.

The requirements for this Accolade were to be the Freedom Phalanx Task Force Badges. Other Task Forces would not be required, even though they were being released parallel to the badge system. So as not to confuse the players, the other TF's were intentionally not given badges.

So we got the Freedom Phalanx Task Force badges, but the Accolade needed Tech (rewarding costume piece) and 3D Art (the new costume piece itself). It didn't get either so the Accolade never happened.

Time moves forward. We eventually get the abilit to reward costume pieces, but when it came time to revisit the badge it just seemed like a bad idea in retrospect (especially with all the badge-giving TF's now), so the 3D art was never ordered.

Hope that clears that up.

The minute I log in, I see a bunch of muggings that look like this (notice the green):

Actually, that isn't the first bug. My audio clips on and off right before I log in a character now.

Pretty minor, I know, but it's strange to see two glitches as soon as that. Cryptic usually does a better job than this.

This was going on in I5 when it was on the test server, too.  Missing textures, clipping issues,  people floating around,  Ghost ship getting stuck... and it seems to be happening on the live servers now.  I agree... they're usually better than this.  They let a lot of muck through with this patch.  Hopefully, there is nothing more serious in store.

I finally found a use for my Rasta Man character....At first glance though, Sonic looks pretty lame. Lame spell colors (white!), and a defender powerset similar to Force Field (boring to me, but great for groups).

I might try Gravity/Trick Arrow though. That could be a cool concept.

[edit] Oh wait..Archery and Sonic is available to Blasters too. Hmm...

I was messing with my Grav controller and I killed two oranges with crush and gdf almost too easily. It didn't take long at all. I gave them about 3 Crushes each and it didn't take much longer than a minute (maybe less).

Paragon City is just thick with magical talismans of unimaginable power.  Heck, Sword Crusade has been taking them from Hellions, Outcasts, etc, on up.  The big green crystal is just the kind of thing the Tsoo might want to steal... just like the purses Hellions are stealing in Atlas Park are appropriate for that villain group.

P.S.  Apparently CoH is inviting canceled accts to play over labor day weekend...  a co-worker is a former player, and got an email about it.
