Looks very nice -- I hope they find somebody to back them. It'll be interesting to compare their finished game graphics-wise to the various games that are in the works right now using the Unreal Engine 3, which supports many of the same features as the Offset Engine plus a whole lot more.

Hot. Edit: We could donate some dollars to them and put www.f13.net on their page.

Maybe it was just because I was forced to upgrade to media player 10 when I did my windows update but that video was terribly stuttered when I played it. I take it that didn't happen for anyone else? I mean whole sections just froze while the audio was going fine.
I just tried it again and noticed that media player 10 pegs my cpu when playing the video, that never happened with 9. I also noticed the links on their site make a point of saying wmv9 format. I wonder if I can downgrade.

Winamp is your friend.
Also, I see big upgrades in my future.
Also also, I saw no T&A elf chicks in chain-mail bikinis. I must say it's a sad indicator for the industry when a straight, and otherwise normal 22 year old male is surprised and relieved a game isn't shoving some chicks chest in his face. Of course... I am assuming they just forgot and will fit some in before the game goes gold.

Rendered in beautiful cinematic quality. The porn could be strong.

Holy... fucking... crap. That was gorgeous. I'm interested to know what kind of hardware was running that. Color me interested.

When I tried to install WinAmp 5 I got a Windows error refusing to allow some of the video components to be installed. The result was that it does the same thing in winamp.
I'm not one of those raving anti-Microsoft people but when they slip in media player 10 during a security update, don't allow me to uninstall it since "it is such a vital piece of the OS" bullshit, and then don't allow a different program to be used correctly I get a little upset.

Read the features they are talking about in the "Game Design" section of the website. IF they pull half of that shit off, it should be some kind of shiney Robot Jesus.

The most beautiful women in the world aren't this beautiful. Dear God, why did you go there? I'm tempted to make this thread very NSFW. She's angry with you, Schild. Angrier than this guy even.

I'll play just for the graphics alone. Well, I think I will.
Man, I'd love to do that kind of work all day. For now, I have to settle for art and character generation as a hobby. TGIF.

Ya, some very good stuff in there. Persistant FPS ftw. Reminds me vaguely of the CS serverside mod that put some WC3 elements in there. Every map you leveled up and got cool abilities. The fact that you fight 4-5 battles (maps) per war, and the winning side on each map determines the next map in rotation is a really simple idea that I'm surprised hasn't been implemented yet. It will also be interesting to see how they implement FPS melee combat. Edit: Then again, for me, about 80% of the fun of a game is watching it being developed.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it were done on a PS3 or 360 dev box. Cuz you ain't buying a computer off the shelf that can do that.

I dunno, the Unreal 3 engine demos looked almost as nice as that, and they were done what, a year ago? An SLI 7800 system might very well pull off graphics that nice.

They do say on the site it's being developed for next-gen PC's, which I'm not exactly sure what the standard is there but I think it's 64-bit. They say they also want to put it on PS3 and X-Box 360.

I am not impressed. Sure its good, but its just the march of technology. Nothing particually clever. The mission stuff seem pretty good, but its just another step down the path with Halo, CS and GW.

That video stuttered like mad, video-wise. Audio was ok. Looking at the stats said it dropped 3000 frames, even though I had downloaded it. WMP on OSX. Oh well.

Oh, the screenies look drool-worthy. I love teh shiney, just adding the texture packs to Thief 3 has made it a better game imo.
I friggin' love the shadows and bloom effect, though (before it became the effect dujour). Last night I was hiding behind the door and my spine actually friggin' tingled when I saw a guard coming just by his shadow looming through the doorway. Playing a thief observing by sound and shadow is how the game should be.
So my graphics-whoriness has some merit ;)

I had the same problem on WMP on OSX. Moved the file to a PC and used WMP 10 and it played smooth as butter.

Meh, it's nice tech, I suppose. I'm kind of disappointed that it looks like it's shaping up to be Generic Fantasy Game number two million and one, though. Yeah, okay, so you've got a kickass engine and all that, now please hire someone who can do something with it.
Gameplay features sound nice, but the difference between this game and something like, say, Savage, is going to be in the execution, so I dunno. Could really, really rock, or could turn out to be the next Star Wars Battlefront.
I was having the stuttering problem with the video, too (on several players), but they have a lower res version on their site that works fine for me. Might want to give that a shot.

Oddly enough those three guys were three of the key people that made Savage.

Well... I was impressed. I've been longing for a fantasy-based FPS (even though I pretty much suck at fps) and this seemed like a damn fine start in that direction.

Wow, those are some incredible graphics. It's been awhile since I've been into FPS, but if they delivered on the goods I'd definitely pick this one up.

Wow, those are some incredible graphics. But are they hotter than Adriana? I think not. By the time this game is released, most games will start looking like it....Then we'll all just and want the next best thing after that.

By the time this game is released, most games will start looking like it....Then we'll all just and want the next best thing after that. Eventually it'll converge to the point where if it were any more realistic, your eyes wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway. I look forward very eagerly to that day for more reasons than I care to enumerate here.

I don't know what's worse: Stalking hot Brazillian and Argentinian girls in real life, or doing very, very bad things to them in a virtual space.

Lower rez gave me shitfits, too. Yay for bad video codecs, or something. Maybe if I try it on the main PC instead of my laptop, but what I saw looked good.

I'm not really thinking holodeck - that would take a lot more than graphics and probably won't happen in our lifetime. What I'm thinking is more along the lines of:
1) Anyone with a PC will be able to create cinema-quality films on a very modest budget. This will undoubtedly lead to some very badass sci-fi/fantasy indy films, which are currently a bit constrained by their special effects budgets.
2) Once graphics hit their theoretical limit, all the R&D time will go towards things like AI and more fun gameplay.
