Armed robbers dressed as clowns hold up Quik Mart

Police are looking for a couple of clowns.

Early Wednesday morning, the bandits hit a local business in disguise. A convenience store on Country Club, just north of Ft. Lowell.

It's not a laughing matter.

The clowns that walked into the Quick Mart were heavily armed. Police consider them to be extremely dangerous.

The police report says the incident took place at 2:38 Wednesday morning.

The two suspects were described as a male and female. They left northbound on Country Club with unknown amount of cash.

This is the same convenience store that was hit last month by a serial robber who had numerous disguises. He has since been arrested.

In this latest case, police say the robbers were dressed like clowns.

One source tells Eyewitness News 4 the man and woman walked in, went to the clerk, displayed weapons.....one a shotgun the other a handgun. They demanded money and fled.

An attempt to locate by police went out. If you have information or have seen the clowns, call 88-crime.

Pair of clowns busted for robbery

Instead of the fun house, two people suspected of robbing a Tucson convenience store wearing clown outfits were sent to the big house.

According to a Quik Mart official, robbers entered the convenience store early Wednesday wearing clown costumes and were armed when they took an undisclosed sum of money and left the store.

Acting on a tip, police arrested 25-year-old Megan J. Franklin and 27-year-old David N. Willingham on suspicion of robbery, said Tucson Police Department spokeswoman Officer Lisa Peasley.

Franklin and Willingham were charged with one count of armed robbery and one count of aggravated robbery each, Peasley said.
