Has anyone seen Pirates! on the Xbox? I was looking to buy the PC version but then I noticed there was an Xbox version. Is it a game that would play well with a controller or would a keyboard+mouse work better?

It is nearly all keyboard commands on the PC, so it should translate just fine to a controller. The graphics won't be quite as pretty though  shocked

I was thinking about grabbing this for Xbox also. I heard they added a few cool new features for the box too.

I grabbed it last week.  Its pretty fun outside of the dance segments, which suck.

The Pause key/button (if it exists in the Xbox version) is your friend.

Xbox version explains so many things about the PC version.

I see pirates every time I close my eyes.  They don't dance, though.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Dance segments?  Why did Pirates! need dancing?

Because there's an option to woo governors' daughters, and they won't be impressed by some scurvy pirate who doesn't even know how to dance.

They should be impressed by the giant ship I stole from my archnemesis with its 300 man crew and tons and tons of cannons and how much money I have and my ability to make quick jabs with a rapier any time a bad guy with a sword attempts to do any form of attack maneuver.

I don't care what Will Smith says, im not a dancer.  Im an angry ship captain who sinks French and Dutch ships for the Spanish crown and blows away pirates just because they are naughty.  Let me win the girl while saving my family via massive amounts of firepower and brooding 16th-17th century angst.

At least the ladies in Defender of the Crown appreciated some good sword work.  And the Robin Hood sequel was kicky cool with Robin and Marion bantering the whole damned game.  I mention DotC since its pretty much the same basic game concept.  A bunch of simplistic yet cinematic minigames attached to a relatively freeform frontend.  Sailing a boat in Pirates, taking over Britain in DotC.

DotC, as I mentioned in the Gold Box thread, is my true intro to great gaming.

By Robin Hood sequel, do you mean the newer DotC game? So it's worth playing then?

See, that's when you take over the town, kidnap said governor's daughter and ravish here in true pirate fashion while screaming AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR at the top of your lungs.

Or just try to impress her with your enormous cockatoo.
