Gene Raymond was playing in a charity tournament when his tee shot from the 18th hole hooked left into some trees. The 66-year-old figured he was looking at a tough shot out of the woods. But when Raymond and his partner got to the green, they found Raymond’s ball in the hole. Witnesses told the men that Raymond’s shot hit a tree and ricocheted across the green into the hole. Last month’s hole-in-one was the first in the tournament’s 26 years. And it won Raymond and his wife a 2005 Buick LaCrosse worth $30,000. They picked up the vehicle this week. Raymond says he plays golf about once a week. |

I got one of the few birdies of my life in a similar manner- I hit a pitching wedge thin on a short par 3, and it was screaming over the green. Luckily, there was a low overhanging branch that I managed to hit. Ball bounced off the branch to within 2 feet of the cup, and I managed to make the putt.

My similar blind pig story got me a birdie as well. I pitched onto a green, someone had left a hose nearby...my ball went over the green, rolled along the hose, back onto the green and into the hole.
Needless to say my dad was pissed off that the hole allowed me to beat his score and never took me golfing again.
Gotta love public courses.

My closest would have been this particular 280 yard par 4. I'm a pretty small guy, I only hit my driver about 220 tops. So I tee off on this par 4 with my three wood. Got a bit of a hook and the shot heads to the right and hits the cart path. Bounces, and hits the cart path again, and again. Ends up in the rough about ten feet from the edge of the green - a 270 yd three wood shot.
Of course I screwed up the chip and three putted, completely ruining the moment, but it was still a memorable drive.
