Teen allegedly tries to torch patrol carFORT MYERS — A 15-year-old girl was arrested Monday after she allegedly tried to set fire to a Lee County deputy's patrol car.
Authorities say Heather Peet, of LaSalle Avenue in Fort Myers, started her vandalism spree on July 6th, when Corporal Scott Marchesi found his patrol car spray painted with the words "You will die."
The paint was removed, but deputies say the next day the same phrase was spray painted on the car.
Again the paint was removed, and deputies say the vandal took a break until July 11th. Authorities say the threat escalated this time, with the updated phrase "You will die soon."
Later that night, deputies say Peet returned yet again – this time placing a Molotov cocktail under the front of the patrol car and lighting the wick. Detectives staking out the home nabbed Peet and were able to put out the fire.
There is no information yet on the reasons behind Peet's alleged actions.
She's charged with Arson, Aggravated Assault on an Officer, Threat to Kill or Injure, and Damage to Property. She's being held in the county's juvenile detention facility.
The teen was also arrested in February for possession of a weapon on school property.
