Download the demo that was posted in the game downloads section.

If it doesn't run, it doesn't run.

I have an Athlon XP 2000+, 1 GB RAM, GF 5900XT and the game runs fine for me at the low/med graphics settings at 1024 x 768. Your system is more powerful than mine so you should be able to run at higher detail and/or higher res.

Yes, you can run it.

As I said in another thread, I'm running it on a pretty shitty computer: FX 5200 (i.e. the shittiest of all FX cards), 1.8 Ghz Athlon 2200+, 512 RAM.

As long as you're not using a Ti series, then you're pretty much good to go.

How many more years were you expecting to get out of that old card, Hat? Eventually all cards hit that game that force you to upgrade.

ALL cards. Hell, I'd still be using my voodoo3 if I could. Bring back glide, bitches!

That's the longest I've ever been able to use a card. I generally build a new pc every two years, and on the alternating years upgrade the video card. Nature of the beast, since 1993, anyway (when I got back into computers after the band broke up).

Mr. Moneybags.

Edit: I kid.  I usually upgrade (or did until this last one) about every 2-3 years anyways.  But I'm finding a serious lack of funds laying around this year.

Heh. I'm anything but. I work at a public library. It's more about me not being married nor having children or other expensive hobbies. And of course, I build my own, which saves me a LOT of cash, especially when tied to the homework I do beforehand so I know it will be a solid gaming platform for the next couple years. I usually do 6 months of research into the hard tech sites before I build a machine (then I'm out of the loop for a year and a half, heh).

Btw, did some testing with all setting maxed out and the game still runs great.

It's an AMD barton 3000 on an asus a7n8x-deluxe with 1GB pc 3200 and a radeon 9800 pro 256MB DDR2, audio is DD5.1 from onboard. I think I built it early last year so I could get better performance at 1280x720, my previous 1GHz tbird/768MB pc133 wasn't cutting it. I think I got the 9800pro last summer, I forget. It was right after a product launch and subsequent price drop for the 9800s. So the pc is about a year and a half old, though it was dated when I built it due to my nforce2 mobo, but I love the soundstorm chipset, not sure what I'll do about audio after being spoiled for so long (nvidia dropped their DD license, which I assume they got through the xbox deal, so no more soundstorm).

Another btw, by "all settings" I didn't mean fsaa or af ;) Those are set to application preference in the CP, ingame set to fsaa:off and af:medium. I haven't checked shadow quality, usually I have to crank those low (EQ2) or get huge performance hits.

You should have gotten .1 carat smaller diamond and used the savings to buy a video card.

A good idea is a good idea forever.

I looked, and well, it just didn't show off as nice as the one I got.

Hell, I could've waited another year and got a car instead.

Hey Sky, could you help me out a bit? I have the same motherboard as you, but I haven't kept up with jack shit about computer hardware lately (stupid Mac user anyways....). If I wanted to upgrade the CPU and memory, what are my best options? I'm particularly clueless on memory brands. Also, is it possible to put 2GB in this thing, or just 1?

Anyways, I like Soundstorm too. I suppose the next time around, I won't even bother with nForce at all.

I use crucial memory exclusively, one reason is they have a great configurator tool. Looks like a 3GB ceiling, though that would nullify running dual channel, iirc. But yeah, 2x1GB sticks should rock that puppy, good idea imo.

For a cpu, I think the one I have is the ceiling, not sure. I have a AMD Barton 3000+ Athlon XP, 400Mhz fsb. Not sure how much of an upgrade that'd be for you, though.

(I'm a stupid mac admin btw, heh)

Thanks

Just did a little quick research, and it looks like I may run into problems with my board (it's a 1.04 revision, and supposedly these better CPU's are more suitable for a 2.0 revision). Maybe it's time to just move up to 64....

Agreed, I have the 2.0 revision.
