I don't think many play this besides myself, but they've just made the biggest improvement to the game ever. Support Experience Explained I still play quite often with my outfit, and this has drastically changed the way the game is being played in the last few days. People are now TRYING to help each other. With exp and merits for reviving, healing, repairing, even piloting a a galaxy dropship that dumps a squad onto a base. And you can skip everything else on the message board if you happen to follow the link, it's the stereotypical vault-ish boards over there. The game is still a lot of fun with a good outfit, though populations have been fairly low lately especially outside of prime time hours. If I remember right, the last actual numbers anyone posted (Estimates, not actual hard figures) was something like 500 players on each server during their respective prime-times. It's still a fairly good amount, and there's never a lack of people to fight against.

That sounds like good stuff in general and would've been great for me when I played since my wimpy system couldn't handle the large scale battles so I spent most of my time doing support stuff (ANT runs for teh win!) which I tend to gravitate to in general in team-based games. I don't really like the whole healed/repaired thingie must kill something for support person to get exp mechanic and there's only a small window of time when you actually can get this exp but I understand they had to try and reduce potential abuses of the system.

Yea. If we had lame ass sigs here, there's a good chance I'd have replaced the board with a 1988 Ford Escort fanclub webring site by now. ____________________________________________________________________________________

This should have been in the game at launch .... but I guess later is better than never for those still playing.

Exactly and it only took them TWO FUCKING YEARS! Why it took the dev team so long to implement this and mini-mechs I will never understand. I don't really like the mechs (Battle Frame Robots, BFRs, biffers, etc) but the game world was begging for them from day one.

I'd say 'about time' but I find I just don't care anymore. I had an off & on dalliance with Planetside, but they change things so slowly I found it's much better to just putz with whatever new shooter is on the market in beta/ demo.

That's great. A little slow, but better late than never imo: PS is a great game and deserves the love.
As a stealth support CE guy, I love the new changes. Reward my hacks and my AMS! And then to get a fraction of exp from guys you are supporting above and beyond squad exp...some really welcome changes for the little guys who keep things smooth.

Is the XP gained by supporting someone coming out of the amount the supported person gets? In other words, is the xp awarded for killing someone split up amongst the killer and the supporters or does the killer still get the normal amount of xp? I couldn't quite tell from reading the post.

No, there is a multiplier that boosts the exp pool based on the number of squad members within a certain proximity of each other when kills happen. The formula allows for one or two members to be off doing things without penalizing everyone (e.g. cloakers, ams drivers.)

The exp is created out of thin air, it's an addition to what anyone would have normally gotten, so there is no bad side to it at all, except now you'll have 4 people you don't know trying to revive you, instead of, well, only people that are your close friends, if at all.

It's sad they'd do it for xp and not just because it's the right way to play the game. Mmogtards, s'wut I call'em.

People who play the game strategically and tactically and don't worry so much about 'exp' in a wargame. There are a few.

Especially at this point in the game where most players are at max level anyway.

Sounds pretty clever to me. I'm all in favor of games rewarding "good" behavior.

I bought it when it came out and I've never made max level.

I bought it when it came out and I've never made max level. My "highest level" guy is BR13, iirc. Because I usually play support and don't get much in the way of 'phat exp'. I just play to win, not to be a mmogtard. Bites me in the butt because I'm pretty limited in loadout options, so I play a ton of alts, a vehicle guy, a flyer, a MAX, etc. Because it's the easiest way for non-tards to diversify skills. I also find I don't get much experience because I tend to go after big, hard targets (like BFRs these days), and other people get the exp. I don't mind, other than the fact it's retahded. And then there's the whole post-beta exp nerf thing

I'd say that only just got the idea from Battlefield 2, and it's giving "experience/points" for teamwork based things like healing and ammo-giving and support guys blowing bridges and arty up..

My ex girlfriend still plays, she maxed out xp within the first year almost entirely on sniper kills. After that, she sort of went to the galaxy pilot/combat engineer role just for the change of pace (and the ability to mow people down with mines and turret emplacements when she's not even there). She likes the changes, but she weighs in with a lot of people on the "what the fuck took you guys so long?" boat.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something. We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail
