I can't find the words to explain to a non-lummite type just exactly why EA sucks.
Please, fill in the blanks here, and I'll show them this thread.
kthx!

How about the fact that they buy up sports licenses like candy and then subject everyone to only their own brand of shitty game if they want to play football with the actual teams. Because competition is bad and whatnot.

They release games before running them through proper QA checks.
In other words: Battlefield 2.
Please ignore what I wrote. I was just reminded that I received free headphones with my pre-order and that should negate all of my gripes.

I can't think of anything coherent. Everything is coming out in Cthulhu speak. I don't think your friend wants a description channeled through me from the Old Ones. So let's say this.
AMY, BAD TOUCH.

Check out this link: http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Electronic-Artsand scroll down the criticism section at the bottom. If you scroll up a bit and look at their acquisition history you can see how bad things have been, particularly on the PC side. Origin, Bullfrog, and Westwood were some of the most interesting and innovative PC game developers until EA came along and sucked all the life out of them. Maxis is the one of the few PC developer acquisitions that is still doing well thanks to the massive success of The Sims (though The Sims Online tanked bigtime).

Maxis is doing well because WIll Wright has stayed with Maxis. When he had the idea for The Sims, they gave him a programmer. A programmer.

EA buys innovative but small studios that produced few interesting titles and effectively kills them off in order to produce uninspired derivative of original successful titles. EA habitually releases titles prematurely in unfinished status and never supports them after release.

How about opening a fantasy football service that charges $50 for the commissioner AND $9.99 PER TEAM, and then only gives away one lousy fucking video game to the winner of the league. How about exclusive, monopolistic control of the NFL license? Or you could try the death march mentality towards salaried workers, or the shitty shitty shit shit shit QA they do on their popular games like BF2. Hell, if you wanted to go all the way, you could start listing all the GREAT development studios they've bought up and forced into deriviative, mediocre sequels until sales on the sequels are so low, EA closes the studio and merges all the talent with souls still to crush into its shitty shit shit shit shitty shit offices.
