For the PC version, try looking up this page: http://www.kongming.net/10/Lots of work to buy and and then patch for English translations. The other website mentioned is good too. But hey, if you like ROT3K the same website have a simulated online game. I also believe there is an ROT3K MMO out of Singapore or something. Damn, which I got the time to play! |

I apologize for being This Person, but shouldn't someone run reviews through a fucking spell-check before they get published? (FTR- I have volunteered for the position of tech editor). I think it reflects negatively on the value of f13 as a pundit for intellectual game review, and may be harming the chances of landing serious (or any) advertisers. I normally wouldn't say anything, but for the love of god, the VERY FIRST WORD OF THE REVIEW was butchered. I'm sorry that I get hung up on this kinda shit, but I doubt I'm the first. Please remember, I'm on your side, I'm not trying to be a cunt.

Heh. Yeah, for being female, I have tendency to be kind of a misogynist. I guess it's like homos calling themselves "fag", or black people calling themselves "ninja".
Edit: If any of the admins give a shit, I've already run this review through a spell- and (rudimentary) grammar-check (with track changes on), without changing any of the content. I realize at this point it's probably not worth the trouble to re-post the review, but you might consider my offer.

I didn't have access to a spell checker when I wrote the review. I ran it through one yesterday morning and found several, and resubmitted a much cleaner version. If it's not up, it should be soon. My apologies (and they don't happen very often).
What do you mean by potential advertisers, Yegolev? I happen to like the game. If it had glaring problems, I would have pointed them out. I suggested that people that didn't like Rot3k8, or strategy games in general, might want to pass this one over. If somebody out there doesn't like Rot3KX, there is nothing stopping them from saying so. I'm not going to seek out an opposing viewpoint to write my review; they can write their own. My review = my opinion. It's simple.
The whole point of it was to give coverage to a strategy game series that often gets overlooked. My approach was to detail as much of it as possible, so that people could decide whether they were interested in it.

I wasn't refering to your review. I am probably going to buy the game based on your description, acutally. I would rather have a review in your style than what I read in most places. I was refering to voodoo's concern over driving away advertisers with bad grammar, while at the same time using the word "cunt". While not bad grammar, it might not serve her goal.

I just came across these gems: Get yourself a Chinese name. Very handy for creating custom officers. Mine is Ma Rui Yi, which sounds uncannily like my real name. And this is especially a treat, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel, online. For those that wanted to read it but couldn't find a copy, here ya go. You might as well pick up Atelier Iris too. My copy's just waiting for me to pick it up from EB today! I am so excited about this game, my friends are sick of hearing me talk about it. How can you not like a Japanese crafting RPG for the PS2? Also, it's the sixth iteration in a very long running series, so I expect lots of depth and polish. RPGFan has a long review that I refuse to read since I don't want to spoil the surprise. I apologize for the thread derail. P.S. the new smiley is retarded. |

Well I created by free general. General Shi Binrui. I started playing at midnight and stopped at 10 am because I was falling asleep. Yep, loving the hell out of it. Last thing I did before going to bed was execute Cao Cao and Lu Bu after a battle. Oh and most of Cao Cao's children as well.
Damn that felt good.
I'm with umm....hell I don't remember my Lord's name. I am a viceroy and his highest ranked general so I'm starting to hope he croaks soon as I've lead the campaign which has caused us to take over roughly 1/4-1/3 of China so far.
I love how if you create a character they have a little biography that updates depending on what you do in the game.

Well I am now very close to winning for the first time. Though I am tempted to prolong the game by rebelling against my Sovereign. He owns 3/4s of China and at least half that land I took. I think he's getting smart though, I used to run over 25 of his cities as viceroy and had 50+ Generals under my command. Now I'm down to 5 or so and he has split the rest up among other generals.
I also have all but 3 skills it is possible to have, and 2 out of the 3 I don't have I only need to find a trainer for and I'll have them.
Damn this game. I've started to hit "Ohhh...how many more generals do I need to talk to to unlock page 5 of the Officer Portraits?"
