Played some online.

Conclusion:

1. Time to buy a new graphics card. This game will kick the shit out of your system if you're packing a 9xxx Generation ATi card or anything older than the 6600 GeForce Line.

ATi x800/GeForce 6600 or better will probably handle the game pretty well.

Well because I'm too lazy to cancel and my paypal account hasn't run itself out of money yet I'll d/l and try it on a X700 with a good system around it and report back  :-D

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

I'm too scared to play.   :-(  Fatal Frame 2 is still sitting in an unopened box.  Funny that... I love being scared by movies but with games I get very nervous although I really, really want to play them.

Fatal frame 2 is pretty creepy, but not so bad once you get used to the effects they use for the ghosts.  Creepier on the Xbox version as well because they have more random elements in it.

It gave me some good scares all the way through, but I am a wuss when playing scary games as well.  Scary movies, no problem, I eat them up like crazy and frankly LOVE them, even the laughably bad ones.  Movies are a passive experience.  I don't relate to the characters.  In a videogame inaction can kill my character, so I get FAR more engrossed in them.

And the thing that is really scary in almost all movies and games is the soundtrack.  Take the soundtrack away and the scariest scenes are no longer scary.

I watched several videos of fear, and it looked REMARKABLY like halflife 2.  Is it the same engine?  If so, why does it kill the computer that bad?  HL2 I have found very friendly to my system, even with all the details up.

Well, if what Fab says is true, and I'm sure it is, it won't run well on my computer anyway.  I'm still using a GeForce 4400 because I've not had any reason to upgrade.  I'm sure I'll have to soon because it seems games are becoming way more graphically complex and programmers are becoming way more lazy.
