So when I opened-up my browser for my usual lunch session, an image of Adam West as Batman caught my eye on MSN.  The Article in question was a top-10 list of TV shows they wanted to see on DVD but hadden't yet been announced.   So it got me to wondering, what does everyone else want to see that's not out there yet?

Myself, most of the big shows from the past that I'd want to rent/ own are out there.  The ones that aren't are actually on that list, Batman, and W.K.R.P (or at least a 'best of' with the Thanksgiving episode)

Also, they need to be stabbed for including 90210 and Melrose Place.

Get a Life

I also want the whole MST3K catalogue to come out instead of these 4 volume sets they dribble out (although there is good stuff on them).

Have all y'all seen the thing on Amazon where you can "vote" to have a TV series put on DVD?  Not sure how much good it does, but they do send you an email if it ends up happening.  And I have had one series that I voted for (Scrubs) actually come out about a year thereafter, so maybe those votes do get counted by someone.

It's basically a foregone conclusion that any modern show with any sort of following is going to have a DVD come out for it.  It's a thing of beauty that I can cherish my season one DVDs of Fox shows before their now canceled corpse has even cooled.

I'd second the WKRP recommendation. I loved that show.

I'd like to see some of the not-so successful '70's sci-fi shows come out. There was one, called The Phoenix that I loved, but lasted like no time. I think this is the IMDB entry. Things like Isis and Shazam from the '70's, or the Super 7 cartoon.

A Cook's Tour. Bourdain ftw! My mom used to tape them for me years ago, but VHS is ass.

There actually is quite the dearth of cooking shows on DVD (Good Eats has 'em, though. Yay.)

Speaking of TV shows in DVD.. has anyone had a chance to watch Wonderfalls?

I caught a few episodes when a friend watched the DVDs and thought it was pretty good.

Front to back it's one of the strongest first seasons for any show I've ever seen.   The DVDs are great because I believe they only aired about 4 episodes before they canceled it.  It ends really strong, there are a few filler episodes though that I could have done without.  Another season or 4 would have been terrific, but as it stands, it's not left completely wide open like Firefly was.  There is some closure.

It's quirky funny, well written, and well acted.  Another show that died to Fox's timeslot of death.

Ya, but those are only 8 eps (although there are some great ones including Neptune 2000).  I want the whole enchilada.

Urg, I want my other 8 seasons, damnit!

Any word on the Saturday morning episodes which came out towards the later seasons? I specifically remember missing an episode which my friends raved about.  cry

I can't believe I forgot some of these.  Brisco Co. Jr., The Tick, The State. I blame not having seen or heard of them in almost 10 years and being over 30.

I'll second Abo's Get A Life suggestion as well.  It's required since I own Cabin Boy, or something.

Julie just informed me that I am in fact wrong. There was something else that got canceled during the great purge of 03-04. Somewhere between Veritas, Wonderfalls, Miracles and well, the 4th is the title I can't think of.

I remember a TV series (or perhaps a movie) that came out back in the early 80's.  It featured a bunch of kids that all had special powers.  I remember one kid could make lightning or control lightning, another had telekenesis, etc, etc.  I can't remember the name of the show, I just remember watching it when I was young (like 10 years old or so).

Anyone have any idea what I am talking about?  I may have dreamt the whole thing...who knows.

I was going to say 'Tour of Duty', 'MacGyver', and 'Quantum Leap' but I just did a doublecheck on Amazon and holy shit!  They're cranking them out these days.

They even have Airwolf.  Jesus Christ.

Wonderfalls was a great show -- "Did you see the thing with the feathers?" "Oh thank god I thought that was just me" (not exact quote). I watched the two episodes that were broadcast and have the DVDs as well (and the later episodes are even funnier, fricking FOX douchebags!). Off the top of my head other TV shows I'd like to see on DVD are: 6 Million Dollar Man and Iron Chef (the original Japanese series). As for Misfits of Science, Courtney Cox was such a cutie back then. That was right after she was discovered in the Bruce Springsteen "Dancing in the Dark" video (she's the girl that dances with him at the end).

Yeah but the problem is for a lot of the older shows, they never secured the rights to the original music for redistribution on alternate media. So some shows may never see the light of day on DVD, others that are on DVD have had their original music stripped out and substituted with generic filler, and others have been delayed as people wrangle over the music rights. It's the reason, for example, why Moonlighting is only now coming out on DVD (finally got the music rights squared away).
