Okay, so I'm catassing on AC again, after a coupla years of ignoring it. At first, I just had fun with it, sending obscene mail to my critters, hitting the asshole characters with my net and whatnot. Here's the problem: I've lost 5 characters in as many days, and even new people have moved away after a day or two's stay (even after I started being really sweet and making my town flawless). I have only 4 animals left! I'm getting pissed and have had to resort to desperate measures.
So I've waged war on my other town ('Flux'). I've gone to Flux and chopped down all the trees (leaving the stumps of course), trampled all the flowers, and littered trash everywhere. I logged in as my Flux character, Cleotha, and am using her to send hate mail to all the critters in Flux so they'll get pissed and move back to my main town, Arisaema. I'm putting pitfalls in the ground in Flux and making Arisaema a beautiful town with nary a weed, flowers everywhere, sending love notes and gifts to my four remaining townsfolk and planting 6 kinds of fruit trees.
Has anyone tried this? Will it work? I'll let y'all know what happens.
Thoughts would be appreciated.

I thought that when an NPC in city A moved to city B the vacant house would either get a totally new tenant or someone from city B would move in? Why do you need exactly the same people to live there? Just wait a few days for someone to move in.
The easiest way to prevent people from leaving is to not have an alternate city on a memory card in the other slot! Sheesh!
(I sold my GC and all the games, so I am eagerly awaiting the DS incarnation.)

What AOF said. Just keep Arisaema "perfect" and be generous with letters/chat'em up. Only reason to keep Flux around is if you haven't gotten Nook's fully upgraded in Arisaema yet.

lol. But it's not where I live that matters, it's that you never move away. The ones you move to I will totally ruin. The vacant house doesn't just get a new tenant, it disappears entirely. Animals don't usually move from the other town, they just appear from nowhere (they're usually entirely new characters). It's not that I need the same number of animals, it's just that my main town, in which I've invested, has only 5 animals (a new one has moved in since I first posted), and the other town has 15. THat means that only one character in Arisaema is ever up past 9pm (since only about a thrid of the animals seem to be night owls). Also, if I only have 4, and two of them are dicks, it isn't much fun to do them favors, if they even have any work for me. I don't really want to spend all my time in the other town where there are more critters just so I'll have something to do besides catch fish. I know I can just leave the second memory card outta the box, but that's not the point. Half the fun is the influx and outflux of new characters, and I like having multiple towns with different time zones so I can get different fruit, buy different items, sell shit to Nook in town C after he closes in town A, etc. I know I can just pop in the second card when I need it, but I don't wanna hafta get up off my lazy ass every time I feel like hopping the train. Nook's in Arisaema is about 500K away from being fully upgraded, but the only difference will be that he's open two extra hours, yeah? I still can't wait to see if everyone leaves the desolate wasteland of FLux, but I don't know if they'll move to Arisaema or just disappear entirely. I love Animal Crossing. I, too, cannot wait for the DS version, so my honey and I can both play at the same time, stretched out on the couch in the living room instead of in our cramped little geek room.

I must say, Voodoo's switch to the Kitty make me happy. It's just so cute I can't hate anything she says like normal.

It could also be the 2 critters that anti-social in your town - maybe you need to...dispose of them.

One of them has already moved away. The other one has sweetened up since I started kissing his ass. The anti-social females always make me way madder than the surly males, who I kinda love.
