I'm not a huge TV watcher.  This really hurts,  cause I don't have the time to separate the wheat from the chaff.  So,  looking for some recommendations from folks.

So far on the viewing schedule:

Deadwood (Sunday at 9pm, HBO) --  Damn.  Makes me want to take a shower after watching.  Some great setups,  some very fine characters.

Robot Chicken (Sunday at 11:30, Cartoon) -- This is a show that I watch,  and then find myself cracking up about days later.  Provides hours of conversation with some of my buddies.

Battlestar Galactica (Friday at 10pm,  Scifi) --  Great drama in a scifi background.  It reminds me of the old scifi stuff,  like Twilight Zone,  before the advent of boring techno babble.

I've been trying to catch Rescue Me,  but damn if I can find when it's regularly on.  Dennis Leary really knows how to throw sympathetic and tragically flawed characters at you.  Managed to catch season 1's final episode,  and his little monologue about 9/11 and the public spotlight was good stuff.

So...  anything else?  I'm already kicking myself about missing the first few episodes of Lost,  and am pretty much waiting for the DVDs.

I like LOST on ABC which is on Wednesdays @ 8 EDT. Jumping into it now would be impossible though without reading some of the recaps they post on ABC.com or TWoP. Really, so far its mostly been character background and a few questions posed about why these people are on this island. Most of them have shady pasts, but some just seem to be victims of circumstance. Hurley makes the show. He's a hero for fat guys everywhere.

Time to crucify myself.

Alias
Lost
Smallville
Gilmore Girls
Robot Chicken
Grey's Anatomy - I think, maybe. It seems like it could get better. Girly like Gilmore Girls though. YMMV.
Numb3rs, it's got a cuter gimmick than most shows. Title sucks though.
Desperate Housewives
24

I've no clue what day this stuff comes on as I don't watch it on TV.

Most of the highlights have been hit. I'd recommend House on Fox, Tuesdays at 9pm EST. Good character development, interesting presentation.

I don't think Rescue Me has started its second season yet.

I'd recommend Carnivale, but it just ended its second season on HBO and it doesn't look like it will return. Find a good torrent site for the second season, rent or buy the first season on DVD. It's good, freaky and slow.

Also, watch the rest of the Adult Swim lineup after Robot Chicken. Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab, and Harvey Birdman are all top-notch. Tom Goes to the Mayor is total shit.

Currently for me (sports not included):

Lost
Wrestling (hey, at least I didn't try to claim it was Sports)
Drawn Together (a must see if - most politically incorrect cartoon I've seen. Last episode was about a Disney Princess shitting on pizza)
Was watching 24 - losing interest.
I'll watch L&O or CSI on occasion when bored.

IMHO, Deadwood is bad Shakespeare set in the wild west. But that's just me.

Recommendations:
The Shield - totes!
Scrubs - hells yeah!
The OC - don't knock it 'til you tried it!
Chapelle's Show - no shit, Sherlock!
Good Eats - fo shizzle! And it's on every damn night!
Wonder Shozen - again: this shit is wrong-funny. Don't listen to Haemish.
The Daily Show - how else am I supposed to get my current events? (sadly, I'm not joking)

If you wanna rent some DVDs, why not start with Six Feet Under? Season 5 (? or 4?) won't start until like, June, so you have plenty of time.

Don't watch 24 unless you really dig train wrecks. That show has been a parody of itself since the end of season 2.   Drawn Together... I'll pretend you didn't mention that.  I don't really enjoy Adam Corola's humor, but if you do, I guess this show is perfect for you.

I watch very little TV anymore, but here's what I do:

Sunday: Deadwood (been a little off this year, this last episode was an improvement), Arrested Development (amazing show, funniest on TV)
Monday: (Monday sucks).
Tuesday: Veronica Mars (watch with the wife), The Office (tivo'd, it's pretty decent so far, but it's cringe humor, not for everyone)
Wednesday:  Lost (best show on TV), South Park
Thursday: CSI (the Las Vegas one, the new Miami and New York ones BLOW).
Friday: (Friday sucks, but if there's a good Fox show on that's going to be cancelled, here's where it'd be).
Saturday: (see Friday).

Patiently awaiting new Six Feet Under, Sopranos (a season away), Curb Your Enthusiasm, and the new Rome series on HBO.  A lot of stuff I watched has been cancelled or hit its series end in the past couple of years so I spent a lot more time reading or playing video games while my wife watches crap I can't stomach.

It would seem that way if you've only watched this year.  They really Shakespeared up the first episodes of this season, complete with random fucking soliloquys and completely out of place language.  They did this sort of crap a lot with Doc Cochram last season.  They've been trying to make mountains out of molehills and it just isn't working.  Here's hoping that the action picks up, the language dumbs down (they did a MUCH better job with the dialog this last episode), and shit starts happening.  I don't want to sit through another languid season of a show that's otherwise top notch (see Sopranos).

Last season was a lot better. Stuff happened.  This season's still good, it just needs to get on the rails.

Edit dos:  Really wish I had started watching Carnivale or The Wire.  I should kick myself for not taking full advantage of my HBO.

Will keep that in mind (I watch for the husboyfriend anyway). Carnivale, unfortunately, has left a similar bad taste in my mouth. I think I just want it to be a cross between Geek Love and Twin Peaks.

Some of my Tivo Season Passes-
Arrested Development (funnier every time I watch it)
Scrubs
Two and a Half Men (Charlie Sheen basically plays himself, which is funny)
Lost
Deadwood (just started watching this, but am getting into it)
Rescue Me
World Poker Tour
Joan of Arcadia (my wife likes it, so we have something to watch together. It is a pretty good show that doesn't beat you over the head with religion, if that can be believed)
Curb Your Enthusiam
Good Eats

Lets see..

I spend the vast majority of my TV watching with my 4 year old son, so Power Rangers, Teen Titans, and a steady diet of SpongeBob.  Yes, I am dooming myself.

Outside of that, I catch the occassional CSI.  Since Buffy and Angel left the air, I just don't turn on the idiot box that much.

My TiVo Season Passes, minus the news shows and stuff:

Battlestar Galactica
Star Trek: Enterprise (soon to be deleted)
Boston Legal
The West Wing
Justice League Unlimited
Teen Titans
House
ER (I should probably delete this; this season has been crap)
Pardon the Interruption (for sports fans)
South Park
Robot Chicken
Sealab 2021
Aqua Teen Hunger Force
The Simpsons
Family Guy (new episodes starting soon!)
American Dad
Home Movies (I know it's old, but I think it's funny, and I still haven't seen all of them)
The Sopranos (no new episodes yet)
Dead Like Me (cancelled, sigh)
Father of the Pride (Also cancelled?)
Drawn Together (Ditto?)
The Office (the new one, just to see if it's any good)
Penn & Teller: Bullshit (essential viewing if you get SHOWTIME)

As for stuff not on my TiVo, I'll watch Buffy and Angel in reruns from time to time, but I've seen them all.  Ditto Deep Space Nine on Spike TV.  Sometimes I'll also catch CSI or Law & Order but not regularly.

Actually, with all the re-runs and such, that's only about 10-15 hours of TV a week.

When I get out of the house, it's usually to go to someone else's house, to watch DVDs or go see a movie or dinner or whatever. :)

I enjoy Joan of Arcadia and JAG on CBS Fridays.  And in a couple weeks the former is finally introducing Satan, which should move stuff to more witty John Glover/Brimstone type conversations.

I watch almost no TV on a regular basis.  If I need a break then I pretty much just watch NOVA, Nature or MythBusters if they are on or a movie if there is a good one on and otherwise I will find something else to do.

Football if its in season and also boxing.

Last I heard they are doing another season of JAG, just without the fircken star... Ok then.

Yah, watched Venture Bros. while it was on.  Knowing Cartoon Net,  new episodes willl dribble out over the course of the next two years....

Chapelle Show is also great.  Funny as hell, with a great undertone of political commentary.

Sopranos,  of course.  But I swear we elect Presidents more often than that show comes out with new seasons.

24 is one of the most overrated shows in existence. It was at self-parody by episode 3. Is that possible?

I don't watch any shows on a regular basis, but when watching TV I can be found watching:

The Shield.
Aqua Teen / Venture Brothers / Teen Titans
Sometimes Trigun or Cowboy Beebop. (mostly reruns I've seen now)
The Ultimate Fighter. (Cool show if you know anything about MMA)
...some other stuff maybe.

I don't watch anything on any major networks.

Edit: I don't mean that as a badge of honor or anything like that, just an observation. I don't really know what's on network TV at all.

Deadwood is picking up nicely as of this week.  The first couple of eps were just setting the pieces. Once Al gets back up all hell should break loose.

That is so true -- Wonderfalls being a relatively recent example (get it on DVD). Chris Carter's Harsh Realm was another show I liked that suffered the same fate.

It's a shame that Friday sucks so hard for regular TV, because I'm much more likely to relax at home on a Friday night than a Saturday night. Now that baseball is starting though, that won't matter. The Braves will always be on in the background. TOMAHAWK CHOP!

By the 7th Episode of Harsh Realm it seemed like the 2 lead characters were just grinding to get up to a high enough level to beat the final boss.

Arrested Development, Arrested Development, and Arrested Development.

Best show currently on television.  Of course it's been under threat of the axe for two years now; we can't have a comedy that rewards intelligence, continuity, and layered jokes.  And no laugh track to clue people in on what's funny?  That's just the kiss of death.

Dear God. The laugh track they pasted onto Sports Night was beyond painful. A laugh track would totally ruin AD, just as it did SN. However, if it gets it renewed, it might be a necessary evil. I was late onto the AD bandwagon, but I am fighting my way to the front. I will be driving it soon.
