Celebrity events for consoles make no sense to me. But who cares. Someone with a cameraphone took this pic: Here's a closeup of the controller: That's some slick looking shit. Edit: Lemme add, I don't like the dpad design. I haven't liked a Dpad since the dreamcast, but even that one wasn't great. Gimme the SNES pad any day. Also, in the bottom of the controller seems to be a jack for a live headset (if it's not a wireless one. Brilliant.)

So help me god if those god damn wireless controllers go batshit insane in my room, like my old Logitech wireless keyboard.

Other than it is white (which I don't care for), it has a webcam (I don't want my children to have), and the new controler has another button, I don't really any differences from the old one. We already have a wireless controler, and an xbox live headphone we currently don't use. Granted I will spend the $300 to buy the latest console for the latest games but I already can see I will have to buy the smaller version of the controlers so they can play easily and get rid of the webcam and live headphone because I don't want to monitor their Xbox 360 use at all times. Nintendo may be stupid, but I would rather pay for extras I would actually want to use.
Why not sell a "live" version with the webcam, headphones, and large wireless controler and a "kids" version with smaller wireless controlers - no webcam and headphones, but instead reduce the price or provide smaller version with a car kit that includes an adapter/battery and a mini screen so they can play in the car or elsewhere.

Looks like a Mac. Are Microsoft trying to pour salt into the Pippin-induced wounds of Apple?
(Btw. if the Nintendo Revolution goes with a PowerPC core processor, that means all new gen consoles will use PowerPC. Eat that, Intel! Yay for IBM and Motorola.)

Nintendo confirmed at the 2005 GDC that the Revolution will be using an IBM-designed CPU (code-named "Broadway") and an ATI-designed GPU so it's a clean sweep for IBM.

Surplus Phantom cases? Has there been any indication that the old controllers will work with this thing? I ruined myself getting used to the original big Xbox controller. I can barely use a PS2 controller now.

an ATI-designed GPU Code-named "Hollywood" if I remember correctly. Yay for tacky codenames.

You can't really see it well in the above picture but it looks like there's some sort of cover on the bottom part of the unit below the giganto power button (still no reset button?). Some people were speculating that there are some ports hidden behind that including ports for wired controllers. If that's true (or if there are some in the back) then presumably you can plug your existing Xbox controllers into there. Edit: fixed typos

Wow that is one ugly console. Comeon. No console ever really looked "good." Well, the dreamcast was passable the new ultraslim PS2 ain't shabby. But "good" - no. It's better than the original Xbox. Mission accomplished.

That goes into the bottom of the controller. A USB cable on a wireless controller? I have no clue wtf is going on. Seriously. Please note the windows XP logo. Neat. I hope.

Been looking at the pictures for a while. The Silver Globe Xbox thingy on the full controller picture can apparently be tilted in 4 directions. Maybe it's some sort of new aiming device or something used in racing of flight sims. I don't know, but it's definately used to control something.
And the next thing is less of an observation and more of a "i'm an idiot" - the usb adapter for the controller does 1 of 2 things: Charges the controller or charges the controller. If they wanted to be uber clever, they'd put a small amount of flash memory in the controller and let you put savegames on it, wirelessly from the Xbox and take them to a friends house that way. Goddamn that would rule. Someone pay me. I'm a genius.

Thing on the left is presumably for the headset (looks just like the data transfer plug for my Rio Sport). The USB connector may be the recharge method for the controller if it's using recharagable batteries, plus it'll presumably allow you to play "wired" if you so choose. Edit: there's already the two memory card slots on the main unit so I'm not sure why you would want to have a memory card slot on the controller as well (like the current ones do) unless it's for convenient storage if you happen to carry your controller around with you.

Well, for some people it's either that, modding the case into a toy Millenium Falcon or catassery... I'll take the first one, to be totally honest.

The DPad looks atrocious. I will NEVER understand why companies find it so hard to make a good DPad. I want to be able to press in all 8 directions - that's it! Is it really that difficult. The DC one was ok, the Saturn Japanese controller and the SNES were good - because they were plus signs. I don't get why systems with analog capability somehow seem to think that the 8 way digital input should be circular just to fit in.

I'm buying all 3 because that's just the way the market is and gamers should be. Except for people that only buy sports games and midnight club. They don't deserve ANY fun at ALL.

Wow, uh... that looks like one of those fruity cases for a tower PC. Am I supposed to make that connection?
I want a fucking hard drive on the thing. FUCK THE WEBCAM. Let me say this again. FUCK THE WEBCAM. I see no good reason to use a webcam. I do not want to see browneye as a player's avatar when I'm getting owned in online football. I do not need to see the vast web of human ugliness given physical form, especially gamer ugliness.
Now, if those web cams are somehow used to provide me free, good pr0n from the non-ugly out there, all is forgiven. Pr0n goes a long way to making good will.

I like the circular D-pad way more than the Super Nintendo's plus. I'd end up pressing up and right about 95% of the time, but the other 5%, I'd press either up or right but not both.

You need to sit down with a NES and grind away until your left thumb is nothing more than a bloody stump. Then you'll learn to love the SNES controller.

Really, because I'm waiting for the day Nintendo says "fuck, lets just get the hell out of making systems like Sega did and just make fucking games for the consoles people are actually buying".

What can I say? I've been a Sega fan all my life. It's hard to accept.
As for Nintendo pulling out, that'll pretty much be the end of gaming as far as I'm concerned (gaming as I know it, at least).

My Tuesday thought for the X-Box 360:
White is the new Green. Also, the name X-Box 360 is ghey. To the extreme, rocking mics like a vandal. Ghey. Yeah, that kind of ghey. Finally, I fucking hate you, Apple, for putting that fruity, rounded, Giger-esque dildo look on your Macs and making it popular.
Finally, according to that article, multiplayer online gaming is not possible with the free X-Box Live Silver subscription. EH?

Depends what "XBox Live Free Weekends" means. It might be Microsoft's answer to including two free months in just about every major XBox Live game that comes out.

Gay.
And yeah, it looks like a fucking tower case because they want kids picking up computers in the future. This is Microsoft.
I just still can't believe how incredibly gay.
I remember when there was a point to new console systems. Now it's just a ram and processor upgrade from your old one.
Also, white isn't the new green. How fucking gay. This system is SO gay that they had two choices for colour: White or brown.

Looks better than the N64, Jaguar, Gamecube, original PS2 & PS1, Xbox, 3do, and Neo Geo.
What the fuck did you guys expect? A Salvador Dali painting brought to life.
What matters is the goddamn graphical output and controllers. It doesn't look to be aching in either. I hope it has DVI. I'm far more interested in someone getting a screenshot of the I/O panel and accompanying cables.
