Teacher enters plea in sex case involving student May 3, 2005 - 1:16PM GRAND RAPIDS (NEWS 3) - A South Haven middle school teacher has pleaded no contest to charges of criminal sexual conduct. Elizabeth Miklosovic, 36, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a former 14-year-old female student. South Haven police have said that Miklosovic married her former student in a pagan ritual. Police also say that they have participated in witchcraft together. Jury selection was scheduled to begin today in Miklosovic's Kent County trial. Instead, the Baseline Middle School teacher pleaded no contest to first-degree and second degree criminal sexual conduct charges. Miklosovic faced criminal sexual conduct charges in Van Buren County but prosecutor Juris Kaps authorized Kent Co. to include the charges in Van Buren County if a plea deal was made. Miklosovic is scheduled to be sentenced on June 6th in Grand Rapids. The sentencing will be for charges in both counties. |
