There are things like that for the atari 2600 as well with lots of classic games all stored on the joystick/console thing. Stateside they I think cost about 30 bucks or so or at least they were when last I looked. 25 quid however would be much more than that so not sure if you are getting charged extra for being across the pond. I believe with the current exchange rate 25 quid is like 45 or so bucks maybe a bit more.

Yeah, but those little Atari/arcade things only come with like, 3 games per unit, right?
I wish someone would remake Oregon Trail. Sigh.

I picked up the one of the two C64 ones from Best Buy, don't remember how much it was and I didn't care. Retro gaming heaven, baby, YEAH! Impossible Mission in all its MIDI voice-over glory! I think I'm going to pick up Intellivision Lives! for my PS2 as well. Yes, I lived in an Intellivision household. Deal with it. |

I picked up the one of the two C64 ones from Best Buy, don't remember how much it was and I didn't care. Retro gaming heaven, baby, YEAH! Impossible Mission in all its MIDI voice-over glory! I think I'm going to pick up Intellivision Lives! for my PS2 as well. Yes, I lived in an Intellivision household. Deal with it. Impossible Mission: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaa. Only downer I see to it would be the lack of multiplayer. Can't play M.U.L.E. with a single controller. |

I think I'm going to pick up Intellivision Lives! for my PS2 as well. Yes, I lived in an Intellivision household. Deal with it. We had no console, just a couple of LCD handhelds (my fave was Ghostbusters) and one plug-in handheld imitation of Pac-Man. |

Speedball Ahh the 80s- when the video games had the same names as hard core drug combinations. The only game on the list I ever played was Summer Games (and MAYBE Impossible Mission). What about Racing Destruction Set? Adventure Construction Set? One on One? Mail Order Monsters? Oh yeah, those are all owned by Satan. |

I use a C64 emulation, though I haven't fired it up in a while.
I should take a picture of old C64 games on my hdtv :p Makes my inner child quiver and whatnot.

I remember using my C64 for, which at the time I purchased for 1500 with my paper route money (monitor, drive, printer) to later avail me of undergraduate paper writing.
Those were the days. Word files on that machine could not hold one of my papers - I had to link several word processing files on a floppy since there seemed to be a file size limit.
40 columns screens - yes - use your imagination when trying to typset in diagrams or equations.
And who can forget: text embedded commands. Italic, bold, underline commands all appeared as text characters - which you had to ignore if you were trying to typeset since they became invisible when printing.
I loved Macs - but I would not be able to afford one until about 10 years later lol.

Hey -- you stole my early adulthood! That's the exact experience I had -- though I bought it with money I made waiting tables and used it throughout undergrad from 1985-1990 to do everything from writing papers to making cool handouts and shit for my D&D campaigns. I have to find one of these -- Impossible Mission was our fave game. |

I remember obsessively reading the joystick reviews in Zzap!64 back in the 80s, when I couldn't actually afford any of them because I was a kid. Can't remember the name of the joystick they've cloned, but it was considered right up there with the speed king. |

The best part of SWG was the easy account cancellation process.

I actually had one of those... it was great. Nice clicky feel when moving the joystick, so you knew whether or not you'd activated the switches or not... unlike the mushy square variety that the emulator above seems to have, er, emulated. And the button was in a fairly comfortable spot, with a nice method for gripping the joystick. Alkiera |
