NEW YORK -- April 11, 2005 -- MTV: Music Television and Microsoft Corp. today announced a global marketing alliance to unveil the next-generation Xbox® video game system on MTV channels in the United States, Asia Pacific and Europe, all within a 24-hour window -- a first for the video game industry. The highly anticipated console will be revealed to video game fanatics, music lovers and MTV viewers via a high-energy half-hour program titled "MTV Presents: The Next Generation Xbox Revealed." The special will be hosted by entertainment icon, seasoned gamer and Xbox fanatic Elijah Wood, known globally for the Academy Award-winning "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. Viewers will get an exclusive look at the Xbox vision for the next generation -- one that ensures that the user experience is always connected, always personalized and always in high definition. The special will feature never-before-seen, action-packed gameplay of future Xbox games, a peek into the future of the Xbox Live (TM) online gaming service, backstage celebrity interviews and exclusive insider footage on the making of the next-generation console.

The inside look at the next-generation Xbox will continue at MTV.com, where after the special, viewers will find extended event coverage including behind-the-scenes video, photos and other special extras. MTV.com will also provide ongoing in-depth coverage of the next-generation Xbox highlighting the latest news, product details and previews of hot next-generation games.

Wow, talk about spending money to make money. I get what they are trying to do with this, make this a "gotta have it" pop culture icon like PS2 has become. Not sure this is the way to do it, but hey, you wanna piss Bill's money away with MTV, go right on.

I must be tragically unhip in that I don't know (nor care) who The Killers are.

I wouldn't worry about them. I don't know who they are, and they'll be forgotten in a few weeks anyway.

Very unhip. The Killers are to Simon Le Bon what Blink 182 is to the Descendents. Some kind of new wave (not the good kind) throwback band.

The Killers are pretty decent, from the few songs I have heard- I even bought "Mr. Brightside" via iTunes.

I'm a hopeless romantic for New Wave music. The Killers are the closest to New wave we've come in years in terms of corprorate bands. They really aren't that bad. Particularly when lined up against shit like The Darkness and Futureheads - who just suck comparatively. That said I'd take nearly anything out of Germany over The Killers.

The traditional Microsoft practice of throwing cash at a market until you win. You'd think the billion+ they lost on the first Xbox would learn them.

What's the point? Why learn when you have the cash reserves equal to or more than many of the countries on the face of the Earth.

How many consoles will it take for Microsoft to start consistantly making money?

Trick question, there are no trees near Bill Gate's house, since it is a mechanical fortress that floats over Redmond. Just wait until his sun destroying ray is complete.

As long as the Killers aren't some mindless, collectively shat out faux punk boy band like A Simple Plan, I imagine I'll be able to stomach their whoring.

Yeah I have to say I've actually had Mr. Brightside stuck in my fucking head like all day...

Bastages, oh and screw MTV I'd put $200 on Snoop making a cameo during this special xbox thing.

PS. Do not watch RahXephon while drinking a small bottle of scotch and debating the meaning of life and breaking up w/ your gf of 3years it may result in contemplating what happens after you die and/or getting The Killers stuck in your head.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

You should know by now Snoop will do just about anything so long as a check is involved.

Usually the money is in the software, right? So, I dunno, but has M$ at least broken even over the current cycle?
