Get BF:Vietnam while you are there. My copy should be arriving sometime before Wednesday.

I blame Shockeye.

I'm not getting a goddamned thing until we actually play some BF1942.  Why waste money on something that I'll never get use out of?

Why bother introducing logic into this? Just spend the $20 and curse Shockeye's name when it sits on your HDD for 6 months!  evil

I am actually looking forward to seeing what the changes are in Vietnam (other than a quite different look for the OpFor, I am guessing). Jungle warfare might be fun. Be even better if they made trees climbable.

I didn't enjoy Vietnam as much as I hoped. The maps are not that great, and the combat got a little "twitchy" for my tastes.

Now, the "official" 1942 mod for the Battlefield: Vietnam is awesome.

Should I pick up BF1942 and/or Vietnam? The UT server was fun, hoping this turns out well.

EBgames.com. $20 each. If you want to cough up $9.99 for shipping, you can have them tomorrow. Screw B&M stores.

I like brick and mortar. I hate ordering stuff off the internet. ordering Breakfast with Hunter off the net made me gag. I almost didn't get it.

Same here.  I'll do it if I have to, but if I don't I'll go out and pick it up myself.  It fulfills my vestigial sense of hunting/gathering.  Shit, that's the main reason I have a Costco account, so I can just wander the store in amazement foraging for deals.  50 pounds of tortilla chips for $2.95?  Fuck yeah!

Ah, so I assume you've seen the 6 lbs of guacamole for $4.00 and the 9,000 liters of salsa for 76 cents.

Sales tax, and the sometimes lack thereof online, is what drives me to buy from websites.

When it comes to games and gadgets, though, instant gratification is the name of the game.

There's 4 of the unwashed masses on the BF1942 server right now.

I think I'll join them.

I'll be on more, it's been hectic lately. Down with stomach flu last week, and busy almost every night this week. Despite my best efforts to have tons of free time to screw around with, it's disappearing once again.

If only I could fly with a proper gamepad :( No left rudder is killing me, literally. I wonder...if I transplanted the bottom two shoulder buttons under the grips like triggers...that's why my last gamepad (thrustmaster firestorm) was a frankenstein, and why I had several for parts ;)

I checked in briefly last night, and there were 2 (gasp) other players on the server. One of them left almost as soon as I logged on, so played on a full server for a few minutes until the unprecedented idiocy of my teammates made me cry (not to mention baby Jesus). I went and watched Deadwood on TiVo instead.

Any chance of getting something semi-organized so there are a lot of us on at the same time?

I need to buy the game to be pummeled. And there were no all in one packages pretty much anywhere around here. Patience, friends. I've got enough games on my plate now as it is anyway.

I was digging through my games. I found a copy of Battlefield 1942 unopened. Uhm, it's just the original version. Will that be enough to play with you all?

I can, of course, apply patches and whatnot.

Should be...there are 2 or 3 patches (use any mirror but EA.com...that was slower than hell for me when I did it). Get busy!

Maybe the only game where I say..."bring it" (because I have all the maps memorized, heh).

We had fun, except for the goddamned bots. I really do hate them. Keep stealing the vehicles and then not using them well, zerging in predictable lines, etc. For example, I drove the artillery to my setup point on market garden, a bot jumped in while I was heading there. Once I'm situated, I mash the "2" key (sometimes they'll jump out), but he won't get out. He's also not firing, just looking around. So I jump out. He hops in the driver seat and leaves, gets killed before he makes the bridge. So I run for the Tiger, which had just spawned, but a bot gets there first (I started killing them after a while). He jumps in and proceeds to sit in the middle of the axis base doing nothing.

I spent more time trying to get a vehicle than playing. Goddamned bots, almost makes you appreciate the retards on public servers.
