New guy here. Been lurking for awhile.

I figured this would be the best way to get the widest audience amongst those of you that I respect.

Well, you know this one was coming. An interview on MSNBC.com about the school shooter in Minnesota blaming....

Yeah, video games.

Well, discuss as appropriate, but it seems like everytime something violent happens, it's because video games gave the perpetrator the model or motivation.

Video game violence? I'm all for it.

I'm also for violence against people blaming everything on the fad of the year instead of parents not actually parenting their children.

About time...I called this last week when I first saw the little creep on TV.

Oh yeah, it's a stupid god damn crock of stinking horseshit, too. Instead of blamning a simple game, blame the parents; either they fucked up in their parenting methods, or they have bad genes. Either way, things like this never have, are, or will be, the fault of a game.

What parents?  In this case, Mom's in the crazy-house, Dad's killed himself a few years back and Grandpa's an old cop with a girlfriend. The kid was doomed.  I'd rather blame his friends who came out after this and said, "Oh yeah, he mentioned shooting up the school a few times. We didn't think he'd do it.. he was just getting picked on a lot."

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.

I thought they were trying to blame this one on Nazi's?

If you pick up the average video game, you're going to see sequences that look just like the animation this boy produced. It's not something that we look at and say, “Oh, I've never seen that before.” You will see it a million times if you pick up any of the common video games available to teenagers today.

I never knew Super Monkey Ball was teaching kids to kill. Oh noes!

Wow, I hope that asshead doesn't get paid to do interviews like that, or study the school shootings either. Because he's basically said that everything a normal kid does and goes through, a school shooter goes through only the school shooter takes it further into violence.

/sarcasm

How insightful of him to have figured that out, what with only many years of psychological schooling. I bet he was firstest in this class.

/sarcasm

He's looking for a link to tie these kids together, and he's looked at all the symptoms without taking one look at the disease. Fucking tool.
