Oregon woman survives 12 days in empty bathtubThe Associated Press PORTLAND — A Salem woman who said she spent 12 days stranded in an empty bathtub after falling in because of a medical condition was rescued yesterday, authorities said. Mary Kelso, 57, was in serious condition at Salem Hospital, said Bill Holmstrom, a spokesman for the Salem Fire Department. Holmstrom, who declined to describe Kelso's medical problem, said Kelso had no access to food or medications and survived the ordeal by drinking water from the faucet. "She was just too weak to get out of the tub," he said. A friend of Kelso called the owner of the apartment building Monday when she became concerned that she hadn't seen Kelso for several days. The property owner called Salem police. When the authorities knocked on Kelso's door, they got no answer. Kelso, however, managed to bang a wall hard enough to eventually get their attention. Kelso, who was fully clothed, told paramedics that she fell into the tub on March 9. "She was conscious and alert and happy to see us," said Nick Grice, one of seven firefighter/paramedics who responded. "I've never had anything similar to this kind of situation before," Grice said. "I've had people maybe stuck on the ground for a couple of days, but never this extreme." Trisha Coles, who has been Kelso's next-door neighbor for the past few years, told the Statesman-Journal that she began to get suspicious Sunday when she noticed that Kelso's mail was piling up, her cat was scratching to get into the apartment, her outside garbage can was empty and her blinds were open even late at night. "I just call it amazing," Coles said. "Amazing is all I can think."

Oh thank GOD she was fully clothed! WTF? Would enough people try to visualize this naked old lady to warrant specifying that she was full clothed? And the whole "I've had people maybe stuck on the ground for a couple of days, but never this extreme." is just fucking hilarious. "Help! I'm stuck on the ground!"

Tubgirl was/is a woman who commits a rather, uh, interesting act in a bathtub. She's akin to that goatse guy. No way in hell I'm posting a pic. Google it for yourself and join the rest of us with part of our humanity forever gone.

Google it for yourself and join the rest of us with part of our humanity forever gone. I Googled it... I went temporarily insane, I have recovered, but I no longer have any recollection of 1996. I also went blind and just regained my vision, but the mental image still scars!!! Damn you all...

Va. woman gets stuck in bathtub for 5 daysTHE ASSOCIATED PRESS HAMPTON, Va. -- A 75-year-old woman who lay trapped in her bathtub for five days toasted her rescue with a cola and a cigarette. Jane Fromal suffered slight dehydration even though she said she ran tap water to drink during the ordeal. Doctors said they would keep her at the hospital for a few days to make sure her muscles were working right. Fromal drew a bath Saturday afternoon to nurse a sore tailbone. "I thought I'd get in the tub and soak," she said Thursday as she rested at Riverside Regional Medical Center. "I didn't know I was going to soak for five days." She tried to lift herself up a number of times but was unable to do so. Her elbows and forearms were left raw and sore. Fromal didn't sleep much during the five days. "How can you sleep in a bathtub?" She finally got help when a neighbor's grandson noticed newspapers piling up in her driveway and insisted his grandmother call Fromal's family. Shaun Foley, 21, tried banging on her doors and windows and noticed that her mailbox was stuffed. James Mountjoy, Fromal's grandson-in-law, burst through a locked storm door. Family members found her in the bathroom off her upstairs bedroom on Wednesday evening. After donning a warm robe, being lifted to safety and drinking a little water, Fromal didn't ask for food. She wanted one of her Parliament 100s and a Coke. It wasn't the first time Fromal, who has a little trouble with her legs, has been stuck in the bathtub. A few weeks ago she lay in the tub all day. Fromal's family plans to add railings and a tub chair in her bathroom.
