I've found it nice to be able to sit on the couch with my wife, rather than sit in the study and game at nights. With the TV on and conversation happening, it's nice to mess around with my more recent move to mobile gaming. Currently the following have my attention as they are a great hybrid of their respective PC experiences:
So I played EvE Echoes in Beta and it has come a long way, not quite EvE, but close enough with some great QoL over the PC original. Certainly the UI is faster, it just needs some balancing. Will I keep a sub going? I'm at Tech 8 and enjoying it. Yes you can play the markets and Plex into a resub, but I don't have the energy for that. PvE is solid, PvP is unbalanced. Very playable on both phone and tablet, graphics are great, Omega login reward skins suck and bonus SP rewards are a bit meh. It's EvE and has attracted some of the dramas... which is good. Downside: They broke the offline autopilot in a recent patch. The shifting of modules takes a bit of getting used to.
Wild Rift Beta is a great remastering of the PC League of Legends. Far superior to the shitty Mobile Legends moba, which makes you grind through ads etc. The rotating map in Wild Rift is fantastic, kudos to Riot for implementing it. Visually I feel like I'm playing the PC version. The mechanics are 99% there as much as I can tell and they are very generous with the quick grind for starter characters. The mob timers feel shifted around and there are some tweaks to the characters, but it's a lot of fun. It's definitely LoL.
"Do you not have phones?" Diablo Immortal has blown me away in its Alpha state. It feels like a crossover between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3 (set between the 2) and looks and feels like Diablo well and truly. The controls are a dream. Yes I was skeptical after the announcement, now I can't wait for the final game. The game pass looks and feels amazing and I am caught up in a "just one more quest/level" scenario each night.
Minion Masters in Beta - I thoroughly enjoyed on the PC (Steam) but it fell by the wayside to all the other games. It's a great port and will also join my tablet games.
"No man is an island. But if you strap a bunch of dead guys together it makes a damn fine raft."
I am hearing good things about Diablo. Maybe they really did take the criticism seriously, maybe they're just getting really good at making the pay-to-win aspect less problematic. Time, and actually revealing what will be in the shop and for what prices, will tell.
"Those lights, combined with the polygamous Nazi mushrooms, will mess you up."
"Tuning me out doesn't magically change the design or implementation of said design. Though, that'd be neat if it did." -schild
