I need some inspiration!

So I have a big U shaped desk that I hate with a passion, then I have this little costco sit stand desk with a glass whiteboard top that I bought for my daughter (doing math homework is fun now), well I kind of fell in love with that so bought one for myself because they were cheap and the perfect size if all you want to park on it is a laptop.  Anyhoo, I was recently fortunate enough to land a 100% remote work job and am now in the early process of figuring out a home office set up, I have opted to chuck the ushaped desk and am starting off with with costco desk which unfortunately is too small to even fit half of what I want.   Anyway here is where I am at:

I know I need to go bigger (and maybe use the current desk as a side desk), my keyboards don't even fit on this desk and I still need room for at least 1 more laptop.  Anyway show me what you all got so maybe I can glean some ideas from the mob.

edit - don't mind the window coverings new ones are on the way, up until a week ago this was the uncared for 7% of our home's square footage we dedicated to the 8 days a year my parents visited.

What is this..."desk", you say?  I grok not this term

I'm thinking of replacing that 55" 4k with a 75"

This thread couldn't wait until I got my new keyboard, monitor arms/new monitor and portrait of Idi Amin Dada in? Fine. Here's my current desk.

Edit: Salamok, I too work from home and it's going to get more serious shortly, I'll post an updated picture of my desk when I redo it in a week or so.

My desk is bit of a mess and I haven't done any upgrades in ages.

Why not, I'm not ashamed (not really).

I too have been working from home this month - like to keep things separated. And looking at the image now, no I did not know that that plunger was there, and I have no idea why it is there.

Man my perspective sucks on this shot. Those two Rift sensors are actually level.

Also those of you with sit/stand desks any preferences?  For example what are you using? what do you and don't you like about it?  I am currently considering getting an uplift desk looks like it has strong motors (350 lbs+) and I can get a ginormous 30"x80" or even a decent sized  L.  The most enjoyable desk I have owned was a more utilitarion looking version of what Gimfain posted (ie just a large work surface w/o drawers, pedestals or anything to bang my knees against).

If you move your desk, sure, casters. If you don't, casters are trash collecting garbage. I personally hate cutouts in desks also, but that's just me.

Where is your actual computer in that setup?  Desktop on the floor?

I'll see about taking a pic of my disaster area desk tonight when I get home.  Unless you're somehow interested in my work setup.

Mine works well but is fairly boring. Work laptop on the right, my main computer in the middle. (20g fish tank on the left)

Here's mine:

Lights off:

The desk is made from a hollow core door I sprayed liberally with truck bedliner and some IKEA Finnvard trestles.  84x30 surface and it's already crowded.

My pc is sitting on the floor and the TV I am using as a monitor is sitting in an old library carrel. Very posh... :eyeroll:

My desk has a lot of clutter on it right now, maybe this thread will motivate me to clean some of it off so I can take a picture without being crushed by shame.

I didn't even realize it was there until I looked at the picture.

I *think* it was from when I had my 3d printer still on the desk, and I was using it as a dowel to hold the filament spool.
