I was the first one to vote no. Don't see the point in merging it with the general gaming forum. I like it being separate.

Besides, we all know change is evil and must be thwarted at every turn.

decrease the amount of main forums (it would likely get dumped into the graveyard) and new MMOG shit can just go into an uber GAMING forum (because there's like 90 bad ones per year and .3 good ones)

I almost voted no and then realized that I don't know what the fuck even is a MMOG any more.  Like, is Clash of Clans a MMOG?  Is Conan Exiles?  Is GTA?  The distinction no longer makes sense when literally everything is globally online.

I voted yes, but only on the idea of merging the two, not graveyarding everything in the mmo forum.

Maybe you should merge this thread into the upgrade forum thread.   ZombieSigne

Merging threads works. I just can't collapse forums it looks like.

I'm probably one of the last MMO holdovers on these forums and even I must admit that there isn't enough out there to merit a separate MMO section any more.

Maybe the solution is to make it a child board of GAMING, which is really what it is now.

I can't think of a good argument on why multiplayer co-op games (of which MMOs are a subtype) should have their own section when other gaming genres don't. We don't have an FPS section for instance, or adventure game forum.

So yeah even though I voted no on further reflection just dumping them all in together but with the occasional game of cross forum interest (such as Conan Exiles right now) having its own temporary subforum (until everybody gets tired of it and it gets dumped into the graveyard).

The best thing about this is it will mean my highest post count will no longer be politics.

A badge of shame I have worn too long.

Edit : they are being merged right? You're not just making mmog a sub forum of pc gaming or whatever it will be called?

It might need to be a subforum. SMF 1.x doesn't have a full forum merge function in the admin panel.

I would rename it ONLINE or sommat.

What if every day each mod just moves one topic from MMOG to Gaming?  We'll be fully merged in a matter of years.   awesome, for real

I bet that's a thing that's possible to script...

I don't care about extra clicks to get to the MMO and the single-player sections.

If you merge, do you care that we're going to perform searches on a bigger category?

If you can't merge I'd go the whole hog and graveyard it.

Save us the angst of deciding whether our beautiful posts are too 'online' for the regular forum or if we'd like someone to read them so should post in the top level forum anyway.

well, move the sorta semi-active threads from the MMO board to the Gaming one, but Graveyard the rest makes sense to me.  Like, anything that's had activity in the past 4-6 months keep around and send the remainder to the great beyond.  Right now, going back 6 months only nets a whole 12 threads.

I'd agree that Rhyssa makes sense: drop the active threads in to gaming and graveyard the rest.

Same goes for my wife, who is 7 years younger than me. She started getting it almost a decade ago. Not sure what list she got put on to get their mail but they were persistent for a while. Meanwhile, even though I'm only about 8 years away from being able to join, I get nothing.

I wanted to vote No.  Then I realized that by any one person's definition a hefty chunk of the games in the MMOG section don't belong there and quite a few of the games in the PC/Console do (which games vary based on which person) and wondered why the hell didn't this happen a decade ago?

Yes, I know I'm paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?
