It starts tonight. I'm kind of shocked there is no thread for this show yet. Is there a lack of interest?

Reviews are generally good. I like the casting that I have seen. They seem to be aiming for powers that can be done well on the small screen.

I'm optimistic, although I wish it was more 'in continuity' with other series/films.

I'm a bit underwhelmed by what I've seen. It's like Fox realizes they have a potential goldmine in the X-Men rights, but are unwilling or unable to actually do a CW-style superhero show with those rights.

Mixed reviews galore.  However, when AICN pans you, it is usually a bad sign.  They have a rave review of the Inhumans up, sort of, right now.

I intend to give it a couple months to find legs.  I believe in the acting talent.  Hopefully they'll find a useful way to move this forward.

This seems to be yet another continuity beyond the original X-men Timeline, and beyond the revised DoFP timeline.  It seems like it respects the events of the other timelines, but is not beholden to those timelines and continuity.  Thus, we could see Polaris meet a young Alex Summers in the present day in this series, despite seeing him running around in the 70s in the First Class series, but we might also see them reference Magneto's attack on Nixon or the Statue of Liberty incident from the first X-men film.

It frigging amazes me that they can't get a good X-men series on TV as there has been dozens of rip offs on it over the years.

There is a good x-men series on tv, it's called Legion.

Which is fantastic, but as written, is completely and utterly unconnected to any X-Men continuity in any way. I loved it but I'm pretty sure no one who doesn't already know the character is based on an X-Men comic would connect the two in their heads from watching the show.

They do make the Xavier connection pretty blatant eventually. Also "unconnected to any X-men continuity" is probably a requirement to make a good show.

Given that some of the Animated X series were not bad, I disagree.  I think a series with the original 5 plus Prof X would work well, especially if it is a brutal world where characters die often and new X-men get recruited to carry on the mission. I'm thinking a Pay Cable, GoT violence, adult show.  A show that embraces the violence, the discrimination, the pain and the darkness with characters struggling to do right in a wrong world. Watchmen might grow to be something like it, but this is the property, the X-men, that were built for that presentation.

I liked it. Not the best thing ever but probably the most believable Marvel TV show crossover so far.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something.  We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

I spent the whole time trying to figure out who the dad was since he wasn't saying "Soookeh" every 30 seconds.  He looks younger than he did on that show.

Well, yeah. His character was 200 years old on that show.

2nd episode was pretty good. If this is the average quality, I am in.

My butt. Haha!

I still keep hoping it will improve, but looks like more angsty grimdark nonsense like Agents of Shield. Yawn.

I think the only thing I like is that they're (hamfistedly) trying to give some motivation to the Sentinel Services guy. I'd probably be more interested in a show about that side of things, rather than yet another rehash of the angsty grimdark rebellious kids thing, though I get that that is what the X-Men and New Mutants are kind of all about.

Ah, nice. I couldn't figure it out, either. My mind kept wanting him to be Paul Rudd.

It feels like it is just treading water.... Like we're still in the first 15 minutes of a movie.  I hope they step it up soon and move the story forward.

I didn't much like it.  I found almost all the scenes without the dinosaur boring.  Maybe I'm just a wee tiny bit tired of superhero and superhero-esque television shows.

Are you confusing The Gifted with Runaways?
