Witcher 3. Will I ever enjoy it? I just can't get past the first person combat and MMO inventory spam. Someone unlock the key for me, I feel like I'm missing out.

Same. I played through the first little part of Witcher 3, killed the dragon [edit: gryffon, sorry - it was last year], received my briefing in the castle, and was let loose into the main game in the area full of dead people hanging from trees, went to the first inn there, and lost interest. I didn't actually have much fun, so I stopped. I'd like to find the fun.

Gryffon.

The story itself isn't bad; but the gameplay - especially on PC - is fucking dreadful. I haven't had to do this much stutter-stepping to get the 'interact' button to light-up since 1999. It's a goddamn joke. I may drop-down all the way to 'combat doesn't matter' because even with my controller instead of KB & M everything is terrible. It's inexcusable for a game to be this janky in 2017, especially one that got as much love as Witcher 3 did.

The reason I stopped playing DA:I was because I couldn't control my character at all. Sad to hear Witcher III has the same issues.

That's really not accurate.

I finished DA:I and yes - the characters really didn't move and control properly. W3 has problems, too - but I wouldn't put them anywhere near DA:I. The sheer size and depth of the game and story in W3 should make up for any problems you might have.

My suggestion? Put the game on easiest mode and enjoy. I'm trying to push through on Death March for the achievement, but the combat isn't really worth doing it for.

Easiest mode is still frustrating as fuck. I did it on Friday evening and the combat remains janky, awful, and just kills the game.

Honestly, if "story only" mode was really JUST the story I'd be happy.  Trying to kill a werewolf and the fucker heals before I can do any real damage because the combat is shit.  yes I'm using bombs, oils, etc and other shit I'm not even supposed to need to on 'easiest' difficulty.

Sorry, it's just not a good game to me. I got more entertainment out of Fall of Cybertron and Stardew valley in half the time invested in W3 already. The controls are 99% of the problem, they are utter, utter, shit.

I'll give you the dance for some object's interact icon. But the combat? L2P  why so serious?

I actually enjoyed the combat quite a bit once I got the various techniques under control. Are you also skilling and gearing properly for your playstyle? Either go super dodgy fast attack or parry/riposte heavy attack/armor. It's really not tough and quite fun (I play dodgy/rolly fast attack).

Also, it's a non-leveled rpg. If you're having trouble with a combat, come back to it later.

I'm replaying Witcher 3 right now with a Signs build and Igni (fire) just obliterates high-level monsters in a way that swords simply can't.  The burning damage nukes their health and you recover stamina so fast that you can chain signs together and the monster never gets a move in.  I'm just about to unlock the last tier of upgrades and am looking forward to playing with those.

TF2: 433 hours
Blood Bowl: 207 hours
Star Trek Online: 166 hours
XCOM 2: 112 hours (finished)
Dragon Age Origins: 88 hours (finished)
BF Bad Company 2: 73 hours
XCOM: 69 hours (finished)
DCUO: 56 hours
Dragon Age 2: 49 hours (finished)
Pillars of Eternity: 35 hours

I'm pretty sure the TF2 hours are inaccurate and low by a significant margin. Of course, there are plenty of other games where a lot of gameplay took place off-line and didn't have the time tracked, or were simply played outside of Steam, such as World of Tanks.

Well, this has been sitting here a while, so...

Based on my quick and probably inaccurate tabulation, the games appearing most in our top 10's (55 entries):

Skyrim - 38

Fallout 4 - 19

Fallout: NV - 18

Civ V - 18

Witcher 3 - 14

Borderlands 2 - 14

Amusingly I'm predictable - all of those were in my own top 10 outside of Witcher, because I have that on console.

3. Warframe (292)
4. Teraria (263)
5. Borderlands 2 (221)

I wonder that, too.  I have it but when I tried to play, it was obviously not done enough for me.  As I grow older, I don't have the patience for actual REAL beta tests or early access or whatever the kids are calling it these days.

**Shrug**

Schild fun? No way of knowing that. But I've enjoyed it as a Survival/Build/Stuff game set in the Conan universe. But then I've never tried (and have no plan to) PvP, which is what the game is supposed to be all about.

I've heard rumors that they might steal from 7 Days to Die and put in some sort of Horde mode to placate single players like me, but I'm not counting on it.

I haven't been playing lately due to their patching speed -- it's too fast. Lots of major updates which tend to break old saves. I plan to jump back in to the single player when it's out of alpha, maybe drag a couple three other friends in and build some forts, enslave some Darfurs -- the regular stuff you do in any game.

I had some fun in there. Mostly when I played with a couple of friends, and we built some crazy bases and raided some other, seemingly much more powerful and better defended bases. Good times. If playing on a PvP server though, have to go into the game with the mindset that whatever you build in there, will sooner (rather than later) be destroyed, either by Chinese hackers (yep, has been a problem in this game), vengeful server admins or just players with more time and/or friends than you.
