*Top ten as recorded by Steam because it's easy and I'm lazy

Hey gang, let's put together a list because bitches love lists. Top ten /played in your Steam library. Probably should not count mmo if you have them in there? Or do, I'm not the boss of you. Then one of you smarty pants can do math to get a full f13 list or something. It's science and whatnot!

1. 7 Days to Die (216)
2. Witcher 3 (127)
3. GTA V (108)
4. Fallout 4 (103)
5. Civ IV: BtS (88) (You know which mod)
6. TES V: Skyrim (83)
7. Rocksmith 2014 (78) (I'm a slacker)
8. Civ V (76)
9. Fallout: New Vegas (71)
10. Divinity II (64)

Thank god minecraft isn't on steam or I'd have a 4 digit /played on there...

5. Dark souls 2 (125)
6. Path of exile (99)
7. Darkest dungeon (93)
8. Divinity: Original Sin (78)
9. TES V: Skyrim (74)

1. Sid Meier's Civilization V (325)
2. Terraria (123)
3. Fallout: New Vegas (112)
4. Borderlands 2 (79)
5. Borderlands (75)
6. Plants vs. Zombies (66)
7. Marvel Heroes 2016 (65)
8. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (54)
9. Saints Row: The Third (51)
10. Endless Space (38)

There are  better games that didn't make this list due to being more focused experiences. For example, I had much more fun in my dozen hours of Subnautica than 70 of Borderlands. I assume open world RPG's will top most peoples lists simply due to their length and selection bias here.

1. Warframe (511 - dammit Engels)
2. Marvel Heroes (137)
3. Borderlands 2 (66)
4. Divinity Original Sin (64)
5. Dungeons of Dredmor (61)
6. Skyrim (53)
7. Fallout: New Vegas (51)
8. Two Worlds 2 (48)
9. Divinity II - the Dragon Knight Saga (44)
10. Puzzle Kingdoms (44)

I have a bunch of stuff that would be high on this list if I owned them on Steam, and I had to edit out a few that were from my wife.

1)   The Hunter Classic (1036)

2)   Elite Dangerous (474)

3)   Hex: Shards of Fate (326)

4)   The Elder Scrolls Online (324)

5)   Civilization V (279)

6)   Darkest Dungeon (249)

7)   Civilization IV: Beyond The Sword (194)

8)   Darkwind: War on Wheels (151)

9)   Mount & Blade: Warband (148)

10)   XCOM 2 (94)

The only reason The Hunter is at the top of the list is because of the structure of the missions and competitions- I often leave it paused overnight to preserve a session to try to complete something. And TESO is higher than it should be because I always forget to close the launcher when I quit  swamp poop

1. DOTA2 (605) - Most of this is my kid.
2. Warframe (265)
3. Rift (188) - wat
4. Stardew Valley (166) - This was a family game.
5. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (94)
6. FINAL FANTASY XIV Online (84)
7. METAL GEAR SOLID V: THE PHANTOM PAIN (72)
8. Fallout: New Vegas (71)
9. Dragon Age II (68)
10. Divinity: Original Sin (63)

For playtime, this doesn't count Mass Effect games, most MMOs, Blizzard games (D3), and MOBAs (mainly LoL). LoL is probably up there with WoW and Everquest. I would estimate those at over a 1000 a piece easy. Some games had dual installs (FFXIV, Witcher 1) that affect play times. Plus there's consoles: JRPGs, Personas (own category), sports games...

Still, it's an amusing list. Funny that I had one more hour in D:OS than Witcher 3, although I enjoyed the later much, much more.

1. Fallout: New Vegas (203)
2. Shadowrun Returns (158) - about 130 hours of this are me screwing around with the editor on a module that'll never be released
3. Underrail (133)
4. Pillars of Eternity (119)
5. MechWarrior Online (106) - goddammit
6. Dragon Age Origins (100) - yeahhhhh. fuck the deep roads
7. Battle Brothers (87)
8. Telepath Tactics (62) - at least 20 hours of this are waiting for enemy turns due to unavoidable combat slowdowns, thx Adobe AIR. Still worth it!
9. XCOM (60)
10. Divinity OS Enhanced Edition (59)

... and now I got the urge to play some more Fallout New Vegas and Underrail. THANKS OBAMA

This seems bullshit because my list seems 'odd'.  However ;

1 - Marvel Heroes
2 - Gnomoria
4 - Plants V Zombies
5 - MechWarrior Online
6 - Elite Dangerous
7 - Skyrim
8 - Factorio
9 - XCOM EU
10 - FTL

While some of that fits my thinking, I haven't touched Gnomoria in yonks and I don't think I've even looked at Plants Versus Zombies in about five years.  Clearly, Elena is up to shit.

Since GOG Galaxy came out, CD Projekt's Platform has been my primary choice if a game is available both on GOG and Steam (unless game is a sequel and I have the previous ones on Steam, and GOG Connect doesn't allow the transfer).

Anyway, I'll include the /played of both, since I have Witcher 3 on GOG :P

1 - Skyrim
2 - Football Manager 2013
3 - Football Manager 2015
4 - The Witcher 3
5 - Football Manager 2012
6 - Football Manager 2014
7 - Pillars of Eternity
8 - Grim Dawn
9 - Football Manager 2009
10 - Path of Exile

P.S. I hate Football Manager.

1 - The Binding of Issac  (249)
2 - Skyrim
3 - Terraria
4 - Stardew Valley
5 - Enter the Gungeon
6 - Spelunky
7 - Civ 4
8 - FTL
9 - XCOM - EU
10 - Mass Effect 2  (143)

Terraria and Stardew are inflated a bit due to my nephew, but they'd still rate top ten.  Most of these are up there because they work well w/o sound while listening to podcasts.  WoW, D3, and probably HoTS would all rate if I had times for those.  Overwatch has me closing in on 300 hours as well.

1  - Europa Universalis 4 (431)
2  - Mount and Blade: Warband (303)
3  - Victoria 2 (287)
4  - Skyrim (227)
5  - Elite: Dangerous (195)*
6  - The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (194)
7  - Spelunky (193)*
8  - Empire: Total War (190)
9  - Civ IV: Beyond the Sword (178)
10 - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (172)

One game that didn't make the cut but still surprised me with hours played: Factorio at 128.  The time flies in that game when I'm in the zone, apparently.

Numbers 2 through 4 are there entirely because of the modding community; Empire: TW and Civ IV definitely have more hours played heavily modded than vanilla as well.

The non-MMO (curse you WoW for stealing 18 months of my life) that I've actually played the most of is Dark Souls with something like 800 hours on console and 124 on PC because of the expansion.  Just imagine all the things I could have accomplished...  swamp poop

*  Elite: D's number is wildly inflated by me tabbing out in between system jumps on a 20,000 ly exploration trip, actual screen time is probably half that.
Spelunky I played something around 300 hours of on console, which would put it at the top of this list easily if that were included.

1.) Xcom 2 (499)                                                                 - Mostly playing around with a shit ton of mods.
2.) Fallout 4 (275)                                                                - Settlement maintainance takes time, I guess
3.) Fallout New Vegas (252)                                                  - The first game in the list that engaged my with its original gameplay for that long. Clearly the best Fallout for me.
4.) Elder Scrolls V - Skyrim (238)                                             - About 75% base Game, 25% playing around with Mods
5.) Dragon Age Origins (187)
6.) Darkest Dungeon (174)                                                    - 99% before release, I think thats the only game I played extensively before launch
7.) Civilization 4 (160)                                                            - I dedicate this entry to Sky. We all know why.  awesome, for real
8.) Xcom - Enemy Unknown (155)                                          - Base game mosly, I don't think I started using mods before Xcom 2
9.) ADOM (133)                                                                    - Not counting games before ADOM moved to Steam. That would rival Magic hours.
10.) Pillars of Eternity (121)

Not Counting Magic (in varous Iterations), which clocks over 1500 hours, but is mostly distraction while watching TV.
I don't count GoG games, because I mostly play them offline and they don't count hours. But I suspect at least Witcher 3 would be in the top 5.

3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (204)
4. Dominions 4 (188)                         *actually a lot more but I rarely launch this thru steam
5. Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition (152)
6. Fallout 4 (152)
7. Mount & Blade: With Fire and Sword (139)
8. Stellaris (122)
9. Europa Universalis IV (106)
10. Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition (87)

counted Elite Dangerous (289) as a MMO and so didn't put it on the list

Edit: That TF2 stat was reset to hell and back at some point. 32 hours my ass. Has to be well over 2500.

Edit: Just looked through a bunch of these games, these numbers are all fuckin wrong. Mass Effect, 22 hours? No. I beat the shiiiiiiit outta Mass Effect. Easily 100 hours. Oblivion 23 hours? That's how much I spent in like the first area. Also, Grim Dawn should be in the top 10, every tiny area takes like 10 hours. Hell, Hex should be like 2500 hours though I've switched back to the regular launcher.

1. The Elder Scrolls Online (682)                 Launcher window stays open often, so probably 1/3 of this
2. Fallout 4 (475)
3. 7 Days to Die (450)
4. Team Fortress 2 (367)                           350 are Pyro, but I almost never launch this hat simulator anymore
5. Fallout New Vegas (356)
6. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (332)
7. Borderlands (200)
8. Marvel Heroes 2016 (189)
9. Grim Dawn (160)                                   Most of this is a part week I was away from home, when a cat launched it
10. Elite Dangerous (126)

1. Clicker Heroes (800)
2. Stardew Valley (279)
3. Legend of Grimrock 2 (277)
4. Don't Starve (227)
5. TES V: Skyrim (161)
6. Faster Than Light (147)
7. Darkest Dungeon (114)
8. Fallout: New Vegas (89)
9. TES Online (72)
10. The Witness (44)

If I excluded the clicker and I knocked Grimrock 2 down to where it would be had I not fucked around with it by leaving it online for days in order to generate crystal flowers, Legend of Grimrock 1 and Fez would make an appearance too.

1. TF2 (736 hrs)
2. Gnomoria (205 hrs)
3. FTL (149 hrs)
4. Guns of Icarus Online (108 hrs)
5. Tropico 4 (76 hrs)
6. Rocket League (75 hrs)
7. Batman: Arkham Origins (62 hrs)
8. Crypt of the Necrodancer (57 hrs)
9. Rogue Legacy (50 hrs)
10. Frozen Synapse (48 hrs)

The only two surprises on there for me are Tropico 4 and Frozen Synapse, which I definitely know I played but wouldn't have guessed I put that much time into.

I can tell they didn't start tracking play time until some time after the Orange Box launched, because I remember playing a shitton of Counter-Strike and TFC right up until TF2 came out.   awesome, for real

My steam is frequently in offline mode for various reasons so I'll never have an accurate record. Also, I never link in non-steam games like Blizzard's, Marvel Heroes, and the like. Here's what it's recorded, though

Civ V (330)
Fallout 4 (269)
Skyrim (251)
Dragon Age: Origins (251)
Fallout 3 (117)
Civ VI (116)
New Vegas (115)
The Secret World (103)
Mass Effect 2 (91)
Xcom (80)

The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.

Not accurate as Merusk stated (and like Schild said, some of these just seem flat wrong), plus some of these I played a lot before I Steam linked/bought and also, some most of my time is on iPad (Shadowverse):

1. Football Manager 2012
2. Civ V
3. Football Manager 2014
4. Shadowverse
5. Torchlight
6. Stellaris
7. Dominions 4
8. Europa Universalis IV
9. Football Manager 2013
10. Football Manager 2015

Rocksmith® 2014 Edition - Remastered 188 hrs
Football Manager 2013 - 141 hrs
Blood Bowl: Legendary Edition - 129 hrs
Empire: Total War  -126 hrs
Football Manager 2015 - 124 hrs
Football Manager 2014 - 113 hrs
Crusader Kings II - 109 hrs
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - 101 hrs
Team Fortress 2 - 81 hrs
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - 62 hrs

As you can tell, Football Manager through the years has been a real time sucker. Of course, this doesn't show my League of Legends time, which is probably greater than this top 10 combined, or my Hex time, which is also going to be up there.

1) Kerbal Space Program -- 331 (This is in actually much much higher, as I don't primarily play on Steam)
2) Left 4 Dead -- 171 (And I haven't played more than a few hours total in years)
3) 7 Days to Die -- 164
4) Stellaris -- 140
5) State of Decay -- 84
6) Subnautica -- 84 (Anxiously awaiting full release to add more hours to this game)
7) Fallout 4 -- 82
8) Conan Exiles -- 82
9) Dead Island -- 74
10) Darkest Dungeon -- 70

And of course, I don't normally play MMOs through Steam so no record there.

At least I'm not the only one with a crazy CKII number. I had a lot of time on my hands before I had a kid.

1. Sid Meier's Civilization V: 1,525
2. Crusader Kings II: 1,460
3. Cities Skylines: 326
4. Rocket League: 321
5. Stardew Valley: 290
6. Banished: 252
7. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: 239
8. Sid Meier's Civilization VI: 123
9. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt: 106
10. Medieval II: Total War: 84

1. Path of Exile: 818  -  I played this a lot on the old client too; probably over 1k hours total.
2. Borderlands 2: 193
3. Skyrim: 166
4. Marvel Heroes: 88  -  Kind of a surprise as I really didn't even get into this that much. I guess I did cap out a few characters before getting bored...
5. Fallout New Vegas: 79
6. Torchlight 2: 45
7. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon: 40  -  I think I just left this running overnight a few days for Steam cards or some shit. I only played it for a few actual hours.
8. Grim Dawn: 34
9. Stardew Valley: 28
10. XCOM: 27

Some of these numbers seem off to me; FC3:BD is the biggest one, but I'm certain I played New Vegas more than 79 hours (I've beaten it thrice). Minecraft is the only non-MMO not listed here that should be; I have thousands of hours logged there easily.

As others have noted; this list isn't very accurate -- way under-stating some numbers.

1. 1327 hours -- Europa Universalis IV; and I haven't even played it that much this year. Probably missing a couple hundred hours.
2. 563 hours -- Skyrim; and I haven't even beaten the two main quest lines!
3. 371 hours -- Mount & Blade: Warband
4. 335 hours -- Stellaris; probably my fastest growing hours these days.
5. 314 hours -- Stardew Valley
6. 312 hours -- Fallout 4; probably a third of this was just to get mods working to make the settlement system not suck.
7. 295 hours -- Mass Effect 2; would be out-done by both ME 1 and 3 if they were on Steam.
8. 230 hours -- X3: Terran Conflict; ah, when the series didn't suck, also missing ~50 hours or so, I think.
9. 208 hours -- Crusader Kings 2; easily missing 300-400 hours on this one.
10. 202 hours - Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence

Of note; EU 3, Total War: Rome, and EU: Rome likely would be in the top 5 but, uh.. yarr/pre-Steam. Also, I have a.. surprising number of games in the 100-180 hours range. Some of them not even that good of games. And when I finally get around to playing the Witcher 3 that'll shoot right up there..

Manual. It wouldn't group my install and not-installed games together.
