Can someone tell me why this Avatar won't animate when I try to upload it to my profile?

Because it's gross and likely to get you banned?

Also it's probably being resized/converted by the forum software which will break the animation.

Any idea what the sizes are that the board likes?

At least for me, the sizes the board likes are avatars that don't have poop coming out their mouths.

What about a "No animated avatars" rule?

What's an avatar?  why so serious?

I turned them off ages ago because having someone walk into my cube and see Merusk's avatar just wasn't a good idea, I thought.

But the are important to give people personality. Does anyone else unwittingly link the avatar and the person in their heads?

I sort of picture Khaldun as this friendly intellectual with glasses and the cigarette.

And before I knew what a General Zod is kind of assumed that how Ironwood looks in RL.

I am not a smart person.  Ohhhhh, I see.

It took me a while to get used to looking at the name and not the avatar, because yeah, I tend to associate the two and leaned on the visual aid to see who was posting.  I still do it on other forums all the time, which is why people who change their avatars all the fucking time make me nuts.

So, we are saying that it's OK to associate slog with his avatar.

Unfortunately for slog, I think his poop-mouth gif is burned into my brain as his permanent appearance.

Yes. I presume everyone matches theirs even though I know most don't. At least if you saw me in person it'd be a pretty good approximation!  My avatar is from 1998 and hasn't changed in over a decade as a result, since I consider it rude to confuse people. But then I'm weird and probably not smart as well...

You all clearly do.  When I changed to new Zod, people went fucking mental.  It didn't last long.  Even though I'm new, new, new Zod on Discord.

Also, yes, I'm pretty much Terence Stamp.

I expected this thread to go to a dark place.  Good job, peeps.  We are maturing!

I change mine roughly yearly, although I went with Comic Book Guy for a few years. I'm basically his stunt double in person.

Not unless you make yours a condom-covered spaceship, bonus points if it somehow appears slightly hungover.  Perhaps piloted by a Polandball.  Except they cannot into space...  Don't know to make that work.

I do get in the habit of reading posts without reading the names, just using the avatar as a reference.  Whenever someone changes theirs, it messes with my ancient slow-moving brain and I have to adapt.  Change is the devil, yo.

Also -- much like tattoos -- I like the concept, but can't think of one I'd be happy to be stuck with.  Hence I've never had one.  I had to look it up, that's over 12 years.  Goddamn we're all getting ancient.  (Except all you ladies, you're all still young.  Don't give me cancer with your minds)
