My father already had ALS and then 2016 decided to give him a stroke which robbed him of most of his mind. This was probably the last Christmas I'll have with him. Fuck 2016 right in it's ear. I have been really bummed all day and have actually cried multiple times when I see some of the gifs going around. Knew it was coming based on the reports but it has affected me more than I thought it would. Star Wars is baked into me as a formative pop culture experience and overall part of my life really really deeply. I was super-bummed when Guinness died (I named my kid after him after all) but he was 86 and had a pretty good run. 60 is way too fucking young. She also seemed like someone who had overcome a lot of shit and came out of it with humor which is really difficult. This year really has been something.

That audition is odd to watch, but fuck was she cute at that age. For some reason, the first SW I ever watched was ESB, and dear god did I fall in love. Even looking back on it these days, I still think she looks amazing in that movie, better than both of the others.
