The opening to episode 6 was god damn amazing.   DRILLING AND MANLINESS

The motel fight? Yeah that was pretty fun.

Episode 7 was... a confusing mess.  Ohhhhh, I see.

Agree on 7 being a mess. 8 though, might be my favorite so far.

I really want Quincannons death to be slow and painful, but if recent series of this type have taught me anything, it's that like in real life, the bad guy gets away with shit. Urgh.

And now we get to actually adapting the stories from the comics. I really need to dig mine out of the closet and re-read them.

Finale was just fucking awesome, especially the conversation in the church.

I wouldn't really expect them to go that route any more than they already are. For the most part they've taken an alternate route through most of the first graphic novel (the second arc in there isn't really worth adapting), covered most of the important ground from the minis (collected in the Ancient History GN which most importantly tell the backstories of Arseface and the Saint), and threw in an vastly different version of the Salvation arc from book seven. The characters backstories have also been changed enough that a lot of stuff is going to have to be altered (and also Cassidy is absent for most of the second GN which I'm guessing they'll find a way to rework).

"had"  awesome, for real

I think they did a really good job with this. I was uncertain at first when it became clear how much they were changing from the comics but in the end I think it worked out great.

Unusual for a show to have such a drastic clearing out of the cast between seasons, bold move!

That was a dreadful ending.  It made no sense.

I don't know if this is worth waiting for.

Most of what we saw in the first season was really backstory from the series, which started pretty much where this season left off.

This is back and the gang has hit the road.  Two episodes in and I'm still enjoying it a lot.

I wish they had done Arseface's background in some way similar to the comic instead of how it turned out (I had to check wikipedia to see if I was remembering what happened in the comic wrong).

Arseface's background in the comic (from wikipedia):

At the time the comic came out Cobain's death was still pretty recent. It's understandable why they felt the need to rework it, and really just about the entire show is drastically reworked from the comic anyway.

NECRO!

I finally finished watching season 2 and I have to say it was extremely uneven. I think it suffered from not being the kind of road movie that the comics were - staying in New Orleans the whole time really felt like a stretch. The guy they got to play Starr was PERFECT, however and anything with him was a gem. The season had much too little Cassidy, much too much of mopey, useless Tulip, and not enough of Hoover and Jenny. Jesse himself was also way too mopey and it made the series drag a bit. The finale was not nearly as good as season 1's.

Even more necro!

I tried to watch this many years ago and bounced off it because the differences from the comic were too distracting.  It recently showed up on Shudder for some reason and I gave it another try, knowing ahead of time that it's doing its own thing, and I'm liking it way more.  In some ways it's even more over the top than the comics, and that's a feat.

It got better after season 2. I still like the comics better but once I gave up trying to see what they'd keep and what they'd leave out, I just enjoyed the insanity of it. The guy playing Starr was perfect for the role.
