I am fairly sure I watched the first one and enjoyed it.  Had no idea there even was a second.  But, Sam, dude, this looks bad.

I may not be there.

Ip Man 2 was better than the first one IMO.  Deliciously cheesy with some great set pieces.  This appears to be continuing the trend.

It would be totally awesome if they pulled a surprise ending and Mike Tyson actually beats the fuck out of him.

Which in all honesty, is what would actually happen in real life land if they fought.  But a Kung Fu movie set in real life land would be boring.

I'd rank Ip beating someone like Tyson as marginally more believable than Rocky coming out of retirement to beat Drago by doing a bunch of pushups in the snow.   awesome, for real

It would be a little closer to historically accurate to have Wong Shun Leung be the guy going toe to toe with Tyson's character (since he was the one in real life who was active in the street fighting scene), but you know, movie.

Yeah I'm stoked.

Caveat I'm a kung fu movie fan - I have a small collection of stuff I like and some of the "classic" Shaw Brothers stuff etc.  My tolerance for a bad movie that contains good fight fight sequences is probably higher than the average person's.

Ip Man was the only fight movie i can think of that didn't pull any of that "make the bad guy have the upper hand most of the fight then the good guy wins in the end" bullshit, he just beat the fuck out of absolutely everyone in that movie.

Going to see this opening night with my wing chun class.   awesome, for real  I think the last movie I saw opening night was the Evil Dead remake; this can't possibly be worse.

New clip: Bruce Lee shows Ip Man how fast he is.

I love that they appear to be dialing the cheese to 11 with this one. DRILLING AND MANLINESS

Saw it.  As far as the plot goes I think this is the weakest installment of the series, but it's got some great fight scenes so if you can turn your brain off it's a fun time.

Tyson was great, but his role was relatively minor.  The fight with him was such blatantly shoehorned-in fanservice with nothing to do with the rest of the plot that it was comical; it was definitely a well-shot and fun scene regardless.

Not nearly as much Bruce Lee as I'd hoped; the little teaser video I posted earlier was the first scene of the movie, so I was hoping he'd be a major character, but we don't see much of him after that.

Not to spoil too much, there's a fight scene in an elevator that was fuckin' awesome.  I'd almost watch the movie again just for that.

I haven't seen IP Man3, but I just the first and I wanted to chime in.

I saw my first Donnie Yen film by accident (Dragon) and I thought it was wonderful.  I dunno, I was just surprised, impressed... I dunno.  He's amazing, and it was terrific.  I can watch him in anything now I guess.  Very stoked for Rogue One

I think the first Donnie Yen movie I ever saw was the Iron Monkey which is a classic kungfu flick and he was (already then) a good action star but he's never made an impression on me in other ways (when it comes to acting).

To me he's always been more of a Jet Li than Jackie Chan or Sammo Hung (when it comes to HK action stars)
