I play marvel heroes when I am drunk and can't think about what I am doing. I play Diablo 3 when I want to feel the combat. I play path of exile when I want my nuts stabbed repeatedly with a rusty spoon.

Marvel's loot is garbage. Way too many collection sets, not enough interesting goodies.

I was thinking it is like confetti, if confetti was composed of unique bits that didn't stack and were for someone else.

It's a very different game from what they launched. It was utter shit that I quit after a few days, now it made me give up PoE and D3 almost instantly.
Explain why.

For real. This one requires it.
It really doesn't, if only because you can get to like level 30 in the time it would take someone to type up a post.

But to give you an idea, it's gratuitous brain-screensaver faceroll trash with no semblance of balance that I still somehow managed to sink like 800 hours into, not counting the test realm - and some of the others around here make me look casual. The only worthwhile RMT is class unlocks and stash space; you can buy xp and item-find boosts but nobody does because there's really no need to augment the instant-gratification lootsplosion event rewards that the devs merrily rotate between every week.

But you can also grind your ass off for the +2 Crystal of Slightly More Crit Damage if showing off your leet Target Dummy kill time videos on the forums is your thing. It's also the only ARPG to have raiding, as far as I know. The hardcore hooks are there.

PoE is still the game I always go back to, but Marvel Heroes was quite the fling. D3 is for playing with friends who aren't really into ARPGs.

It's not even really fair to call unlocking characters rmt because you can unlock them easily by playing regularly, a couple weeks give or take to unlock most chars.  And they give you enough tokens for two free random characters just for logging in a second day.

This Marvel game got about 20 minutes out of me.

No.

This is not the Diablo I am looking for.

I could have told you Marvel is not for you. With fairly little variation, most heroes have a single unique per slot (sometimes 2 or 3), most heroes use a variation of the same 8-9 power artifacts... it's not really a loot game. You think it is, and then once you hit the endgame, you realize it isn't at ALL.

The combat feel of Marvel is also different - there are a lot of baked in pauses to various animations that makes it feel slower than Diablo 3.

I say this all as someone who still plays Marvel Heroes nightly, but I'm mainly waiting for whatever is next out of Diablo.

May I recommend the Patch 2.3.0 PTR preview for D3: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/19802338/patch-230-ptr-preview-6-23-2015

I actually think it's probably 3-4 weeks away, with season 4 a couple weeks after that.

After watching a few videos with steparu playing the game, it does come across as slow paced and combat didn't look that exciting. I can't really tell why you should play this instead of any of the other diablo clones.
