X or XII? Tidus was a looser, but aside from that, I'll play XII any day of the week over X.

I've got Dark Knight Cecil and Kain's five star weapons, so I'm using both of them. Aerith is the healer since she's more sturdy than White Mage. Rydia is good for now, but she might get replaced later. Her black magic tops out at three stars and her summons are too hard to hone. Fifth slot gets swapped out frequently right now, although Cloud was there for a long time.

The only character-specific 5 star I've found is Pally Cecil, who I don't really like. My default party is MC-san (healing with a bow), Sephiroth, Rydia, Tifa, Cloud; however, I'm trying to get everyone leveled up (aside from the useless core characters) for synergy bonuses. The Wakka and all the IV guys are there and Cyan's a work in progress; I really hate Tidus (and there isn't a lot of X content) so he's out on principle.

Apparently I'm not using Tidus. I'm using Cloud.

At least at this point Cloud is way better than Tidus.  Clouds spell blades are pretty good and Tidus gets... boost? I guess.

Where are you guys getting 5 stars? Relic pulls?  I've just been hoarding Mithril except using some to increase my inventory space so that I have to do the horrible inventory management less often.

I need a 4* sword for Cloud.  I found a 2* mithril sword drop in the new VI Airship level so I'll probably try to farm 2 more of those up.

Same.  Only thing of note I've pulled is Dark Cecil's sword.  That thing owns.

Aeris's ult is goddamn terrible.  I've tried to pull her staff hoping it gets better, but no luck so far.   Cyan is OK (his ult is bad too),  but he can't equip bigger swords, which limits his damage potential.  Right now I'm running Dark Cecil, Cloud, Cyan, Rydia, and the White Mage.

Well I dropped the 50 mithril on an 11 pull and got a couple 4* things that are pretty good.  Was hoping to get Rydia's whip but oh well.

Aeris's ult is pretty useless most of the time but it can really wreck a few of the bosses.  I think it even worked on the Magus Sisters.

The Summon Radiant whatever (Mist Dragon in old guy parlance) completely destroyed the Magus Sisters. One hit, two kills. Kain stabbed the last one in the face.

Mist Dragon makes quick work of Calcabrini too; I couldn't master that fight without it.

Mist Dragon makes quick work of all sorts of shit, it's absurd how good it is. I know following the rules of the original fights is incentivized, but the power levels are all out of wack across the board.

I've been trying to clear some of the elite content and some of the bosses are pretty rough.  The first one I really got stuck on was Baigan follwed by Cagnazzo in Baron Castle.  They just give you no room for error on the timing.  Trying to not let Baigan's arm explode is really difficult and Cagnazzo just wrecks me if he hits with his wave attack.

Also on FF6 Mobliz, I cant seem to poison Humbaba to get the Champion clear.  There must be a different skill since poison does't seem to work no matter how many times I use it.

I used Biora and it worked well. Are you accidentally using Poisona, which is for curing poision?

Man, I get Terra, and found she doesn't have the ability to summon.   Ohhhhh, I see.

That's because Terra wasn't a summoner. She was a magitek knight with shit magic abilities.

FF6-FF8 pretty much let anybody summon but none of the characters are "Summoners". You'll have to wait for them to add in Garnet, Eiko, or Yuna for another summoner.

What's worth redeeming for in the Countdown to Destruction event? I have ~20K shards and my main group is in the low 30s. I've done one "11 for the price of 10" relic pull and got the Buster Sword as my only "epic" weapon. E.g. are the 3 star items worth getting now or should I just get as many orbs as I can afford?

Maybe grab some of the summon orbs since they're generally not available outside of the events. The jeweled ring and peace ring are pretty much worthless. Aside from that maybe just see if there are any good abilities you're an orb or two away from having and get those.

I have a party level 12-13 and finding the game play extremely dull. Does it get better or it just a nostalgia thing?

It really doesn't. It's a nostalgia game for the toilet or work downtime. I 'Auto' through 90% of the fights, and only actively control it for bosses.

I agree, if you don't like it by 12-13 it's not going to suddenly get better.

I think Terra is going to be a pretty good character.  Seems like she can equip swords and high level black magic which is going to make her a way better auto battler and strong against bosses.  I'll probably start leveling her once I get Rydia maxed out.

Aeris's ult is goddamn terrible.

Seal Evil is amazing. It's a near-guaranteed silence on anything it hits, and it will make a whole lot of bosses essentially weak as kittens.

I've been farming the FFV Ghost Ship level all day to try and get Black Cowls.  The drop rate really sucks but hopefully I have a 5* soon.  2 down, 1 to go.

Pulled a 3rd Scimitar from the rare relic draw (plus the two from the Celes event) so I'll have a 5* weapon soon. Speaking of the Celes event, the later tier rewards are grindy as fuck; I kinda want a 2nd Hero Ring but 100k Memories... Ugh.

Also FYI, the FFVI Elite Dungeons aren't sorted by difficulty; there are a bunch of 20s and 30s below the old 40s and 50s.

All gear is worth upgrading. If you don't have native 4*/5* stuff, upgrading and combining to get there is the next best thing. Ideally you have a set of upgraded gear from each game.
