Fox has announced a 2016 release of Gambit starring Channing Tatum.

I liked the character in the comics.  I don't know if I want him in a solo film... I'm hoping this is more of a small team-up film with a few background X-men.

2020 will be the year I gave up all hope.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something.  We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

If it was Marvel, I might be enthused. Instead....

Channing Tatum is an interesting choice. They have a hard sell. But, you know, we live in a country where Scarlett Johansson is the lead in Ghost in the Shell.

Just a couple weeks after he was on stage in a Gambit shirt, Tatum may be exiting...

I've never heard that about Tatum, if anything he seemed all on board with the film and was even the one pushing for it initially.  My impression is that he saw the script, saw another jupiter ascending and said "nope".

I've never heard a bad thing about Tatum.   He's a producer on the film and his been the push behind it.  I mean we wouldn't even be talking about a Gambit film if it wasn't for Tatum.  Rumor is it's more about budget and him wanting to get it done cuz he's trying to focus on producing and directing.

Josh Holloway seems like he would be the natural casting choice for a Gambit movie.

I don't know why he has never been part of the x-men movies.  I never read comic books so my only knowledge of the x-men comes from the 90s cartoon, and he was always one of the main characters there.  Was he just not as important in the comics?

From what I remember (and I havent read Xmen in years) in the 90s Gambit was a very big character in X-men. He was kind of the cool bad-good guy type along with Wolverine and I remember a lot of people raving about him.

Gambit got really annoying really quickly. There was the whole "Will they/won't they/can they" flirtation with Rogue, there was his thankfully mostly forgotten time as a horseman of Apocalypse. Nowadays he's in X-Factor with Polaris in what was a good series written by Peter David that just got canned.

Yeah, literally the only memorable thing about Ghambit in the 90's was his cards and his uncanny ability to try and throw the dick in Rogue.

The 99 hit combo in X-men vs Street-fighter was pretty awesome.

Ron Perlman as Strong Guy? He's getting on a bit, I know. Hafþór Björnsson could do it, certainly physically.
Johnny Knoxville as Madrox? I dunno why but I just feel he could play an awesome Madrox.
Alicia Vikander as Wolfsbane? Trying to think of physically athletic actresses who could portray Rahne in both states... Karen Gillen would have been perfect, but she's already Nebula...
