Wasn't he responsible for making Butcher Bay fun?
I also think he had lots of input into the story behind Riddick.
And he's a giant fucking nerd. He's what we all could be if we were beefcakes.

Vin Diesel. He's the one who's not The Rock, right?

Right. He was not in "The Rock" as well. He also wasn't in "The Hot Rock" or "Rocky". I'm pretty sure he was also not in "School of Rock", "Rock Star", "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" or "3rd Rock from the Sun". I did not see him in "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle" either. I'm not sure about "Picnic at Hanging Rock" or "Detroit Rock City" since I never saw those.

I just googled him and his name isn't The Rock at all. He is called Dwayne Johnson. Why do I get him so confused with Vin Diesel?

I thought it was so priceless that Vin Diesel, a guy who is supposedly ubah-cool, was explaining DnD mechanics to Conan, who's a dork...
I wonder if he still plays, heh.

I always wondered what your avatar was. Now I wish I hadn't (not safe for, well, not safe). I want a larping video with him in it. Playing a finger wiggler w/ a 19 strength.

If I recall, I heard that the tattoo he had over his stomach in XXX was actually his D&D character's name.

Some of you people know way too much about celebs! I'm sure I don't want to know what any more of them have all over their stomachs!

Vin Diesel owns the development company that made Butcher Bay, and was heavily involved in it's production in some vague way. He is an ubah geek for sure. He may not can act, but he LOOKS cool doing what he does, could kick my ass, and likes geek things. He's watchable in movies, even movies that would otherwise be complete shit (Fast and the Furious, XXX), much like the Rock (except nothing can make The Scorpion King watchable).

The unrated director's cut with the copious boobies certainly helped me watch it.

Nothing, not even the coolness that is Vin Diesel's geekery, could make me watch A Man Apart.

I seem to recall a post here a while back when Return of the King won at the Academy Awards, about how nerds had finally been "vindicated"...or something like that. It was quite sad, actually.
And how can the fact that Vin Diesel is a D&D geek move him from being on someone's shitlist to being on their Top 10 list? That too, is quite sad. Are nerds that desperate for role models and mainstream accomplishments?

It's also noteworthy that Diesel a) is not the characters he plays and b) is a geek who doesn't look like spent 25 years living in his parents' basement eating leftover pizza hut pizza crust. Maybe he can mix his DnD interest with movies and star in the next Dungeons and Dragons movie...
O.o
yes...I know we've almost all tried to blot out that travesty from our collective consciousness, but it will always fester like a boil on the brain because we were scarred by a villain done up in blue lipstick...and Marlon Wayans...and the vacuousness of Thora Birch...and Jeremy Irons chewing the scenery until his gums bled from the splinters...oh the humanity!!

Marlon Wayans' death almost made up for the rest of the train wreck. My buddy stood and cheered when his character got offed, to my total amusement and the consternation and anger of the rest of the dupes who were dumb enough to pay good money to see that steaming pile of excrement.

Give me the old CBS Saturday morning cartoon and I'll be happy. Thanks. And yes, I did have the action figures.

Well, first of all, I don't do the whole "role model" thing. Secondly, I forgot something... [/sarcasm] I personally kinda always thought he was a douche, but not really anymore. Oh yeah, my "Top 10" list is a very loose term....I'm like the anti-movie buff, and as such, being on My Top 10 means shit. Hell, the last movie I saw in theatres was either "Mean Girls" or "Ghost in the Shell: Innocense"...I forget which.

Supposedly he's gay too.
So he's a geeky gay action-hero.
Odd mix imo.

The gay rumors will haunt him just because he's beefy and smart. Would be cool if he was, but the odds are mighty slim. He's probably straight -- not that there's anything wrong with that. We just all have to remember that straights are people, too, and not make them feel bad just because of who they are attracted to.

I'd say a good percentage of the action-hero types are gay and dorky. He's not unique. Spend some time in the drama dept. or a casting office : Meet your future heroes.
