Jerry Sloan, Utah Jazz Coach for so many years, has passed.  There are few NBA coaches that really jump out to me for what they did.  He kept that team competitive year after year in such a challenging market.

Well, Karl Malone and John Stockton and Jeff Hornacek may have had something to do with it.

Actually that is my limit of knowledge on the subject, so maybe you’re on to something.  Anyway, RIP.

Ugh. I'll miss him. Bishop > Bilbo IMHO. He was seriously scary as Bishop.

Ennio Morricone dead at the age of 91.

He has 520 composer credits on imdb so it's hard to pick any one thing to link... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMMh2ibYhKw

Naya Rivera's body was found in the lake where she drowned. The thinking is, she had enough energy to save her kid and got swept away by the currents. Glee Curse.

Never saw Glee, so I have no idea who she was...but what an awful thing for that kid to experience.  Heroic and tragic.

Never heard about  her, but now reading about the death:

I figure this is as good a place as any, especially since he used to post here.

Brian "Psychochild" Green passed away at 46.

I enjoyed the little time I had with M59, and it really sucks hearing about this. He was heavily involved in the FFXIV roleplay community, and is supposed to have an in-game memorial soon.

So DJ Eric Morillo was found dead.

I hadn't heard that he was charged with rape, and this seems like a likely suicide since his hearing was scheduled for this week.

For those who are not familiar with him, he was the guy behind "I Like to Move It, Move It".

Poker legend Mike Sexton dies at 72 of prostate cancer.

I know we have some poker players on here and he had a major impact on the pro poker scene as a commentary on the World Poker Tour which I used to watch back in its early days.

Boseman and Sexton hit me hard. I had just heard Sexton was in hospice like a week before he died, so it wasn't a total shock. But seriously- fuck cancer, and fuck this country for not doing more for research/treatment/mitigation. You can get a hard on from multiple products, but we still have CHILDREN dying of cancer, to say nothing of older folks.

With CRISPR we're getting closer to ending genetic diseases...but the NOVA I watched on the topic did feature a Putin talking about how easy it would be to turn into a weapon and/or make super soldiers, so I'm pretty sure the cure will also be a billion times worse than the disease.

The thought of such an easy delivery DNA editing is so much more chilling than the cold war nuclear winter thing ever was.

I did not realize she ran away to join the circus as a kid. Somehow that isn't surprising, heh.
