Mayor of San Francisco (Ed Lee) died early this morning.  Local politics will be very interesting for the next several months.

Many a Saturday morning/afternoon was spent in my child hood with Keith Jackson's voice. He was a really great broadcaster.

I've done MANY dumb things on skis with that man as my inspiration.

I hope that he had as great a life as it seems.

That is how I remember him best. SA was one of my fav movies in my youth (since I was basically the same age as Lloyd and Diane when it came out, and it was filmed in Seattle!).

RIP David Ogden Stiers.  As I was saying up in the useless thread, I always thought he did really solid work on MASH. Also was great whenever he popped up other places as one-offs like that ST:TNG episode.

Yeah, I always thought he was a lesser antagonist on MASH after Frank left but it wasn't due to his acting. And of course, I will always remember his performance as The Martian Manhunter in that never-aired and very awful Justice League of America pilot.

I wouldn't say lesser, just different.

By lesser, I mean less funny - but by the time he arrived, the show had morphed from less screwball comedy to more political commentary. Frank was Keystone Cops whereas Charles was always played more as a straight man.

They wrote Frank into a corner and couldn't really do much with him. CEWIII had more depth and variety to his stories.

A good oral history was just put out a couple weeks ago. DES was apparently too ill to participate, but some good stories about him.

Producer Steven Bochco has left us.  Known for Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue amongst many others.  A legend.

I am pretty sure Keyboard cat has been dead for years...? *confused*

Edit: Or is that the joke that some people don't know who the real keyboard cat was?

Edit2:

Quote
Keyboard Cat is an Internet meme. It consists of a video from 1984 of a female cat called "Fatso" wearing a blue shirt and "playing" an upbeat rhythm on an electronic keyboard. The video was posted to YouTube under the title "charlie schmidt's cool cats" in June 2007. Schmidt later changed the title to "Charlie Schmidt's Keyboard Cat (THE ORIGINAL)".[1]

Steven Bochco, a producer whose boundary-pushing series like "Hill Street Blues" and "NYPD Blue" helped define the modern TV drama, died Sunday after a battle with leukemia. He was 74.

I started watching NYPD Blue just because it was on in the background one night and prety much watched till the series finale.
