Just read that Natalie Cole died. Didn't realize she was 65.

Lots of famous people dying this week.

Exactly what I thought when I read the news. I thought she was much younger than that.

Same here about Natalie Cole. Really didn't think she was 20 years older than me, but still way too young to be kicking it.

I am old.

That's Robert Redford (in Jeremiah Johnson), not Haggerty.

Not really a celebrity himself but Celine Dion's husband Rene Angelil died a few days ago of cancer.  To top it off her brother died yesterday of cancer, too.  Shitty week for her.

This how we know there is no God. Everyone but her dies? She will probably inflict a double album on the unsuspecting public.

Run Run Shaw died earlier this month at age 107.  He was part owner of Shaw Brothers Studios out of Hong Kong, makers of an absolute shitload of  kung fu films in the 60's and 70's.  Most notably, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, and Five Fingers of Death for those of you that didn't grow up weened on Kung Fu Theater.

Jimmy Bain, former Rainbow and DIO bassist, dies aged 68

Sunday, January 24th, 2016 11:24am

The Scottish bass player, known for his work with Rainbow and DIO, has reportedly passed away.

According to multiple sources, Jimmy Bain has died aged 68.

Bain was recruited by Ritchie Blackmore to join Rainbow and played bass on their legendary "Rising" album, as well as live album "On Stage". He was fired from the band in 1977.

The following year, he formed Wild Horses with former Thin Lizzy guitarist Brian Robertson, releasing two albums in the early 1980s. Bain then went on to co-write music with his friend Phil Lynott for his two solo albums.

1983 saw Bain join DIO, co-writing many of their hits including "Rainbow in the Dark" and "Holy Diver" during a very successful tenure with the band.

In recent times Jimmy Bain was a member of Last In Line, alongside Vivian Campbell, Vinny Appice and Andrew Freeman. The band performed on Def Leppard's cruise just last week.

Wayne England, fantasy artist who defined an era of GW products and who had produced a shit-ton of work for everything form CCGs to movie concepts died today. His wife posted on FB and it was later confirmed by his manager. Whatever the cause, it was very sudden as he was posting WIP art only yesterday on his FB page.

Umberto Eco died.  I might have to go back and reread Foucault's Pendulum.
