Power supply died on our server. GoDaddy replaced it and we're back up.

No it's not -- I've had plenty of EC2 instances die from hardware failures.

By "the cloud" we of course mean a hypothetical cloud that delivers on all its promises, not the actual cloud which is run on fallible hardware by fallible humans with finite resources. |

So they're not actually storing data in water vapor?  That's disappointing, to say the least.  Someone should get on that. |

Those cost money. It is a far more efficient use of resources to have some poor bastard on call who has to drive in to the facility and manually install a new power supply at 3AM. /CFO Where is my bonus check? |

I would have thought you'd be panting at the mouth for Power BI from Microsoft.     "Yo Dawg, we herd you like Excel, so we put a powerpivot in your pivot so you can pivot while you Excel." |

We've already digressed but just want to say I hate people who use Excel to make gigantic databases. If you want a damn database and are lazy at least use Access! |

Yes.  It's worse when you try to sell these stupid fuckers PowerBI from Microsoft.  Because it wants to plug into SQL ideally and instead these cocks have two and a half terabytes of separate 90Mb Excel Files.
 ....

Or so a mate of mine said for legal reasons.

This may or may not be the best time to mention that I once created an Excel VBA application that used an Access db through ADO. It may still be in use today in the bowels of one of the many bottomless voids of Hungarian bureaucracy... right next to another database app created by some dude in Foxpro 2.6. in my defense, I was young and needed the money |

I like this thread more every day.  I'm wondering if I can get Access installed on a AWS instance. |

Yes, you can.  If you use Azure, you can even get Access installed on an RDS enabled instance so that you can have Access from The Cloud.
 So there's that.

Well, you can use RDS on AWS as well mate, but you'll run afoul of licencing.
Not that anyone ever licences RDS properly.  Not since Microsoft put in a tickbox that may as well read 'Pirate.'

Yes.  Also, engagement rings the size of golf balls because they are already with the MD or CEO and, frankly, you can fuck off you horrid little peasant because this girl doesn't spread her legs for anything less than Platinum rocks.
 So there's that.

 I'm told.

Ahahaha. No, really? I don't work in data so I don't know, but I did spend 10 years at Crystal Decisions/Business Objects so I kind of understand reporting. That's fucking hilarious. For me. For you? Not so much I guess. EDIT: A comma can be everything. |
