Outland is free until until June 8th at 10AM Pacific Time.
It appears to be a platformer with conventional gameplay, nice graphics, and an optional co-op mode.

PAYDAY 2 is now available to add to your account for free on Steam, good for 5 million users who add it through this offer. Once added it is permanent.

I haven't played it myself but it is supposed to be fun as co-op multiplayer, with friends who can enjoy a frantic FPS which requires teamwork.

Single player is not good. So I will likely be one of those 5M who does not play it.

I used to play it with randoms all the time and usually found good groups with people that actually used their mics, but I haven't played in ages it might be populated by asshats now.  I'll probably have to reinstall and give it a go.  Pretty fun game with multiple paths you can take to each map.

So, I didn't know where to post this.

If you buy PLAYERUNKNOWN's Battlegrounds (fuck that name, but the game is awesome) and you have Amazon prime.  You can use your Amazon prime to get Twitch Prime.  Then on Twitch you get free cosmetic loot for PUBG.

Here's the kicker, the loot comes in a loot box you can open in game. But if you don't open it, here's the current price to sell it on Steam Market:

https://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/578080/TWITCH%20PRIME%20SET

Don't be me, I opened mine and the contents are only worth $10.  Still.

EDIT: I don't see an option to do this on Twitch anymore, maybe it's over :(

If you were on the fence about purchasing it and/or, at long last, you decided to enter the rabbit hole, for the next 48 hours Football Manager 2017 is 80% off on Steam (this was done in light of the release date announcement for FM18, which will come out on Nov. 10th).

If you have any interest in football (soccer) from a management perspective, the FM series is just brilliant.

I have FM 16 and have heard that FM 17 isn't much of an upgrade.  Any opinions on this? (Haemish as well)

Well, if you only take into consideration their publishing policy (or rather, Sega's), each year is basically a "data disk", to use an ancient terminology :P

Let's say that, IMO, as far as the "polish factor" goes (as well as the match engine fidelity), FM17 is probably the best game of the '15-'17 triennium. Unfortunately, but that's just a personal issue, I can't devote as much time to it as I did 'til a few years ago, so I'm slowly shifting toward the "Touch" version, which is definitely more streamlined and quick (while retaining all the pros of the normal game).

The 3d engine in 17 is a bit better looking, and there seem to be a few more options but really - it's a data disk. I'm the sucker that's bought every version of the game since 2011 and usually end up putting about 50-100 hours into each season but if you are looking for major, noticeable improvements, I can't say that 17 feels a whole lot different from 16.

I prefer to play with imaginary players, so the seasonal data has no value to me.  I guess I'll wait to see what 2018 brings for FM.  Thanks all.

I don't think this is a temporary deal, but Sang-Froid Tales of Werewolves is now free.  It's a fun tower defence/strategy game where you have to defend your home against werewolves and other mythical creatures.  I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this type of game...except for Lamaros because he hates everything. awesome, for real

Soooooo ... the Halloween sale is going on.  It's so lackluster, I didn't even want to start a new thread for it.

The trend of insane 75-90% off deals being replaced by 20-30% discounts continues.  Most of the stuff that was interesting enough to fall in the "maybe during a sale" category -- it isn't even discounted.

The Autumn Sale is Nov 22-30, so maybe all the publishers are waiting for that ?

It's much better than it was at launch. They have base building, added a storyline of some kind, and added a few other improvements like being able to call your ship to you. That said, for me there was nothing to make me stick with it. I think I have 12 hours into it or so and I don't really see a need to go back. Maybe the story is good but I never tried.

No Man's Sky is no longer on sale, but Osiris: New Dawn is, for 9.99. It's an early access game.

There are several of these floating around.  StarMade, Empyrion, Planet Explorers, and a few more.  All of them have some promise and all are VERY alpha/early access.

Planet Explorers is probably the closest to a real game.  It's pretty stable, has working multiplayer, has a (very weak) story mode.  Has a lot of cool crafting features, but the building and crafting UIs are actively user-hostile.  It "released" a few months ago, and the development team moved on to a 3D version of Stardew Valley (My Time at Portia)

Empyrion could be very decent, if the dev team doesn't get bored and quit.  Haven't gotten too deep into it yet.  It seems that after mining resources and building a base, you raid very tough artifact bunkers for further tech upgrades.

StarMade has a free demo, and appears to be a "build a ship and mine stuff" game more that a "scifi minecraft" game.  Haven't put any time into it.

StarForge is garbage and was abandoned years ago by its dev.  It is notable only for being one of the first early access games to be abandoned without a majority of the promised features.

So that Steam Link thingamahoppybob is on sale for $5.  Is it worth it if the shipping is more than another fiver?  This is dodgy, isn't it?  I'm going to think up some crazy ass conspiracy theory about it.

From what I remember reading from the last time they did this, they're dumping stock because they're switching over to an app instead of physical hardware.
