I managed to snag one of those clearance ones at $150 since I'm laid up after hip surgery for a few weeks.
So far I've picked up Shin Megami Tensei IV which seems fun even though I've been wiped twice AT THE START.
Also picked up Animal Crossing: New Leaf for later (or my wife if she gets curious).
Anything else that's must have? I heard rumblings of Bravery Default but its not for sale in the US as far as I know.

Bravely Default you can preorder if you like.
Fire Emblem: Awakening is a must have if you like that sort of game (SRPG).
The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds is very good if you like the old-school Zelda style (top down).
If heard good things about Pokemon X/Y though I haven't played it myself.
The Mario games are good if you are a fan of those Mario and/or Luigi.

Clearance ones? The 3DS XL's have been floating around $150 since Black FRiday. Currently Target has the Mario/Luigi Special Edition ones for $150, as well as the Zelda one, but that one is sold out at most places.

I really liked the remake of Ocarina of Time, but if you've got the original it might not be worth it.
I also got a lot of mileage out of Final Fantasy Theatrythm. People may argue about which games in the series suck, but the music at least is pretty good for all of them, and Theatrythm was full of "I should really go back and play that game" moments for me.
3DS online store has a lot of nice games on it, too, like the entire classic 8-bit run of Mega Man, and I really love Cave Story+ (the sprite one, not the polygon one, there's two slightly different Cave Story remakes on the 3DS for some reason).

The problem with the Eshop is that the prices on some of the old games can get a bit ridiculous at times.
Fire Emblem: Awakening is widely considered to be one of the best games on the system, and I've heard a lot of good things about Mario 3D Land.
The only games I have on mine so far are Etrian Odyssey: Millennium Girl (which demands more of my time than I really have had time to devote lately), A Link Between Worlds, and I just got Theatrhythm today.
I've been thinking of picking up Cave Story+ too.

I second A Link Between Worlds. Bravely Default is rather good if you like Final Fantasy style games (it's tragic that they've made a better Final Fantasy type game than SE, really), also Jobs.
I'd also ask people not to remind me again that SMT IV still doesn't even have a release date announced for EU. Atlus is at it again.

Yeah, I'm super hype for Bravely Default. One of my guildmates in FFXIV has it (he's in France) and has been trying really hard to not gush about it.

Thanks for the heads up guys.
I think I'll play DS like I read - one game all the way through at a time.

That's the way to do it, although you're setting the bar really high with SMT:IV.

Ive never played anything like it. Damn fun so far. Just wish the Game Over - Load time took a lot less.
