So Valve announced the end of the trading card beta as of tomorrow (Wed).  In the announcement they said:

Quote
Making trading cards available to all Steam users is a step towards an event we think everyone can be excited about...

The internet is taking that to be a giant hint that summer sale could start Thursday.

Previous dates:
June 24, 2010 (Thursday)
June 30, 2011 (Thursday)
July 12, 2012 (Thursday)

I'm not sure that sentence can be construed to mean it's coming Thursday, specifically. They may wait to see how the trading cards things go for a week before launching the sale next week (or sometime after).

I don't really think a summer sale comes as a surprise to anyone, nor is the date even ever relevant. It happens every year, like clockwork. Excitement? Announce Half Life 3. Otherwise it's just Valve being Valve. I love them, but totally don't give a shit.

I wasn't posting it to be an "omg amazing" post, I was just letting people know that rumors have it starting soon....

Hex tapped me out but I'm sure I will find some titles on sale that I'll buy and never play.

I appreciate the warning, I always have the attention span of a thing with no attention span when it comes to whatever we were talking about.

Not sure how much I'll spend since GoG just had their summer sale last week and I spent a fair bit there, but maybe I'll grab Borderlands 2 or Dishonored or something if they get hit hard enough.

I'd love for it to be this Thursday. Love it.

If it's not, though, it will be after the next week. It makes no sense to release a sale on the 4th when people aren't near a computer and out with friends.

Between Hex and a huge outlay for our kendo armor I think I am going to try to sit this one out.

There's a few things I want:  Spec Ops.  Possibly Borderland 2 and Skyrim DLC.  Maybe pick up CK2 (should have probably got this last sale, but ohh well).  Other than that, we'll see.  I've been good this year, so far, and apparently I'm the only person on this site that doesn't really care about Hex.

You're not the only person. Well, I sort of care about Hex, but not enough to spend any money on it yet.

Only thing I'm really waiting for a sale on is CK 2 Old Gods but that just came out so not likely. Maybe Dishonored if the price is right. It's not like I'm still playing shit I got in the Christmas sale 2011 or anything.  why so serious?

I thought I might like Hex. Then I read about it and listened to the forum discussions on it, and I realized quickly I would very much not. So I have plenty of money stored up to burn in this sale.

I've earmarked about 12 things so far. There could be as many as 20. I'm really fucking bored of the stuff I have right now from the holiday sale, and I'm ready to splurge. SPLURGE I TELLS YA!

You won't be bored when the new version of f13 goes up. That rolling calendar is gonna make a lot of people spend a lot of money. I wish I could just open a webstore for indie games.

I've spent too much on Kickstarter/Crowfunding projects (especially Star Citizen, gawd) during the previous months, so I'll definitely have to restrain myself this year. My main objectives:

- The Walking Dead
- The Cave

I might also give a try to Kerbal Space program if they discount the Early access a bit.

I'm going to try REALLY HARD not to spend a dime, but there are a couple of things I'd like, depending on price.

Fez
Skyrim Dragonborn
Borderlands 2
Rogue Legacy (likely not on sale)
Magic 2014 (likely not on sale)
Dark Souls

Fez had a sale on GoG, would be surprised if Steam doesn't follow suit.

I'm doing the exact opposite. I've earmarked a large bounty for this sale.

I really just want Skyrim legendary and Fez.

That being said, I'm sure I'll go full retard and buy more games than that, then laugh when my wife says "wtf" to the 20 valve charges on the credit card.

My Xbox died just after I bought Bioshock:Infinite and Mass Effect 3.

So I'll be looking for those on my PC now.

I am hitting the road Friday and travelling somewhere for two weeks that has no internet or cell phone service.

Not sure if that makes me lucky or not.

I'm with Paelos.  I've pretty much run through all my games - so my loins are appropriately girded in readiness for this sale.

I'll probably pick up some more train DLC if it's suitably discounted, maybe the expansion for Endless Space. I'd say Civ V, but it's too early for that to be discounted.   Other than that, I'm not really sure what else is going to grab my eye.

I've been waiting for Trainz itself to go on sale because my kid likes trains. But it never does...

I'm hoping Civ 5 and it's older expansions at least have some pretty deep discounts, so I can finally get around to buying it. I also still need Krieg for BL2, so hopefully BL2 DLC goes on sale. Other than that I don't plan to spend too much since I just dropped a lot of cash on Hex and I have vacation around the corner.

If you're impatient, Gamersgate started their summer sale just this morning.

As a reminder about steam sales, don't buy a game unless it's on a daily deal or flash sale until the very end.

Pretty sure I'll just use this sale to stock up on DLC on the games I already own and don't play.

I was just thinking that too.

Is there a "Most Wished For" list of games to see on Steam? Maybe I missed something.
